I'm looking for a laptop for my friend.
Budget around RM2,500.
Preferably in the range of 14"

Usage:
Using the net
Games ( the SIMS and occasional Team Fortress 2)
Music
TV series/movies
mobility would be great

She was looking at MacBook Pro, but I told her she could get a good laptop for a cheaper price.
oh ya. she's a girl, so a laptop that isn't that 'guyish' would be good.

Acer 4820TG, i5 460M + ATi HD5650/GMA HD@RM2599
Dell Inspiron 14R, i3 370M + ATi HD550v@RM2299...

Done some research on the 4820TG. Competitor with the Asus A42Jv eyh?
I myself own the A42Jv. Just wanna ask, what are the pros and cons you know off for the 4820TG?
I might've missed something during my research.

Hmm, I've read complains on the keyboard. In the long term, dust trapped inside the keyboard may spoil it?
Cos my friend has Acer now, and well, it's not treating her well.

In terms of GC. Is it better than A42Jv GTX 335M (if not mistaken)

Well, you could use keyboard protector if really concern about it, or just sometimes use some vacuum to clean the dust...

ATi HD5650 is slightly better, but generally they are on the same level performance..

Just lighter than 4820TG?

More expensive than 4820TG?
Hmm, if I'm not mistaken. 4820TG is around RM2,500 right?

Do you think it will last a few years? Cos she'll be going to Melbourne, it would suck if suddenly the laptop break down.

What if she doesn't want Acer.
I've heard complains on the Dell Inspiron. Speakers won't work after a while. Two of my friends experienced this.

Thanks for the fast replies lee!
I'll have a talk with her later.

Doing more research than when I bought my own laptop.
Don't wanna be the one who recommends her a lousy laptop whistling.gif

Okay bad news.
She doesn't want Acer. Cos her parents has Acer aspire as well.
Always jam. And she has butter fingers, and Acer's built isn't that solid.

Any order recommendations?

lee, I checked Lenovo Y460 in digital mall, and the GC is Nvidia GT 425M. If not mistaken.
I thought Y460 uses radeon 5650?

It's also known as Asus K42Ja @RM3,600 right?
Those specs is quite good.
But for a light gamer, Nvidia GT 425M is sufficient yea?
