I had done a lot of changes to my sgs, but i insist not to root it as the risk is too high.
Can u imagine the risk of somebody hack into your sgs and remote access to your camera.
Not possible? think again...
*
Haha, you will still have to accept the permission for some1 else to access your phone even though you're rooted.

Root doesn't mean your phone is exposed totally. Is you who decide whether to allow super user permission or not.

and rooting's risk is not high at all. UNLESS you go to system file and simply delete files. Even so, you can simply flash a brand new firmware again easily

where to get the update.zip from?

its there already in your internal SD.

Turn off your SGS, press volume up + home + power button, hold it for few seconds.

Then when you reach recovery menu, use volume button to navigate, press Home button to select. Select flash update.zip

i'd notice after i installed both lagfix on my set ( voodoo n OCLF ) my phone tend to freeze a couple of second before its proceed when i opened up a page..not happen to apps tho'..mostly happened during i opened up setting, manage application, contacts, messaging..but it'd happened for the first time..after i close and open again..it will open up in a instant...

my finding about using double lagfix
*
Most likely is OCLF's fault. It will lag after sometime of usage

I thought froyo suppose to solve the lag issue? Why need Voodoo still?

Anyone out there using leak froyo still experience lag like eclair? unsure.gif
*
nope, samsung decide to stick with their RFS filesystem (the1 that causes all the lag) still in Froyo.

Installed and setting up.

So, I just stop using the default email checking?

Disable it or set timer to infinity of sort? lol

Now can check Yahoo! Mail, which is good. The Yahoo's apps (both Mail & Messenger) really suck.
*
tango is a bad app, it makes my phone never go to sleep. If you installed tango, do a fresh boot, then let the phone screen off for few minutes, then use spare parts to see battery usage, it will say Running 100%

Assalamualaikum,

Insya'Allah after using this phone for a week or so, I think is safe for me to give a review. Hope it well help you guys out there who are considering to buy this phone.

wub.gif THE GOOD:

Price: Of course the one thing that really make this phone stand out from the rest of the smart phone line up is the price. Standing at RM600 plus, no other smart phone can beat it, yet. I will truly agree that the phone give much much more than its price, a touch screen, gps, wifi and android all come in good packages in this phone. For people like me who are careless and prone to accidentally dropping the phone, the cheap price is a good way to safe your money without loosing the exciting feature that a smart phone has to offer.

Android Apps: If you are people like me, that like to be kinda of different from the majority, the android OS is the best alternative to the IPhone Apps. Yes I like to be different, the android apps which you can download it from the android markets is breathtaking.  rclxm9.gif . From the useless but fun to have apps such as "tom the talking cat" to the must have apps such as opera browser, the android apps market have plenty of offer. BUT wait for it, thats not the best thing, the best thing is FREE. If you like me, you will spend night over night browsing and downloading new apps from the market. Nope! my internal memory has not run out yet.

Connectivity  : There are some people here and at other forum complaining about the wifi connection problem. In my personal experience, I have none of it, I can easily connect to the internet using wifi at home and at midValley megamall. I use the phone to connect with the wifi so much that the phone has replace my PC for updating my FB, checking Gmail and browsing the internet (Use Opera Browser). I think, the connectivity problem is cause by the router that you use. This also for 3G, i know this because I accidentally watch youtube using 3G when I thought i used wifi. And let me tell you, its fast thought it flush my credit to the drain  doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif . No problem yet with mms and gps.

cry.gif THE BAD:

Android OS: When android is the good feature of the phone it is also the down site to it. Android is relatively new so its not really mature enough, because of this there is still bugs within the OS. Most notably is with the Clock apps which come pre-install with all android phone. It suppose to be the alarm clock apps for this phone, but it does not functional well.  Although you can easily fix this with downloading alarm clock apps from the market, but things like this are the basic of the phone, witch manufacture should not get it wrong. Then there is the limitation on the apps that you can download from the market. Priced apps is still not open to Malaysian user, so there are limitation. However with the coming upgrade to android froyo 2.2, most bug problem should be solved. Including to be able at last to install apps on the SD card.

Screen: If you want to watch video in HD, you are surely will get disappointed with the screen resolution. It is noticeably low and poor quality. However honestly, it is ok with me. Sure is not top quality but you can still watch YouTube and read ebook from it. True for most video.

Camera: I guest this is the worst feather of this phone. The camera is really really bad even comparing to other 2MP camera. Lot of noise and the color is just wrong. If you want to buy phone and plan to use the phone camera a lot, then i advice to not buy this phone. Is really that bad.  sad.gif  sad.gif  sad.gif

Battery: The phone battery is not really a problem, but you do have to take care about witch setting you turned on. Do make sure you turn off wifi, and gps after using it. Or your battery will drain fast, another thing that i notice, is when battery goes down to 60% or so, than the power will also drain fast, but going from 99% to 60% you have to do a lot of thing. So its actually safe but just  be cautious with you power using. Thought the positive side is the battery can be charged quickly.

Oh k, thats my personal review. I'm not a hand phone dealer so I think you can trust my review.
All in all i really happy with this phone, I already forget my last phone.
Thanks for reading it.

How is the performance of SGS with Froyo on board?

I think it won't beat any Eclair + Voodoo.

But don't worry, samsung just released source code for Froyo, soon voodoo will be at Froyo!!!

hi guys,

seems interested to do the 3 button combo fix from the xda, but i got question. below are the steps from the procedure :

"1. Unplug the phone from the computer (if connected)
2. Kill all Kies related software (tray agent, etc)
3. Start Odin3 v1.3 Downloader
4. Plug in the phone to the computer
5. Start a new command prompt and navigate to the folder / drive where adb is located.
6. Type "adb reboot download" to the command prompt and press enter."

can somebody explain to me step no 5 and 6? is it using the Android SDK?

thanks
*
Firstly, do you know how to use SDK? Do you know simple commands for windows?

am downloading sdk right now... if my guess is correct, we shall use the command prompt from window, type the directory where our SDK resides, then type "adk reboot download", am i right?

if i put the sdk for example at desktop, then shall i type C:/Desktop??
*
I would recommend you to put in C:/

You can either go to to directory or if you add Android SDK to environment variable then you can use adb anywhere

hi all,

after some courage and 5 minutes fast heartbeat, my phone now can be reboot into recovery mode using this method.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785201

for all starters, don't worry, me also never use SDK, odin or whatnot... all you need is 99.5% courage and 0.5% luck (of coz with knowledge how to do it laa)

below are the steps from Xda along with my note :

1. Unplug the phone from the computer (if connected) - anybody can do
2. Kill all Kies related software (tray agent, etc) - no problem
3. Start Odin3 v1.3 Downloader - download Odin3 v1.3 here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788640)

4. Plug in the phone to the computer - no problem
5. Start a new command prompt and navigate to the folder / drive where adb is located. - for starters, i really2 recommend you to read here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010
6. Type "adb reboot download" to the command prompt and press enter - same as above
7. Move to Odin3 v1.3 downloader and select the "Aries_P-SBL.tar.md5" as PDA file. Make sure "Phone Bootloader Update" is ticked and re-partition is unticked. Do not select any other files but "Aries_P-SBL.tar.md5". - no problem
8. Press "Start" button to launch the update process. It will take around three seconds to complete. After the update phone will reboot automatically. - walla, your phone is done

my heart is still beating quickly now, coz am very2 excited, now i can install voodoo, wooohooo

some info on my phone :

I9000DXJG4
2.6.29 root@SE-S604 #2
ECLAIR.DXJG4

cheers!!

Congrats and good share! I think the instruction is pretty straight forward, just make sure you read a few times and know what are you doing. It's not that hard
