yes you can use adb to enter download mode, if anything failed in the middle of flashing... you end up black screen and could not use adb

first of all,u need to know what is adb..how to use it..after that u can enter to download mode or recover mode using adb...
but please be carefull..you must know what u are doing...dont do it if u dont have enough knowledge about adb..

The only chance you will brick it is using ADB to go to download mode ( if your phone has 3 buttons disabled ). I thought my post was quite clear , which part you dont understand ?

thats odd... i installed launcher pro plus and didn't change my battery one bit.. i'm on stock 2.1 firmware with voodoo lagfix. you sure its the launcher pro and not enabled 3G? i'm using 2G most of the time..

this is something i can't understand.. nokia phones 2G or 3G..batt life difference not so big.. this SGS..such a big diff.. (even when auto-sync, background sync is disabled)

I have 3G on all the time too (on Digi) and with paid version of Launcher Pro (Plus?). Have not had any battery drain issues pointing back to the launcher. Are you having any Launcher Pro widgets on your home screens? The facebook and twitter ones by default update every few minutes, I think, so I don't use them.
