For example, if you look at Banking sector, their employees are pretty much protected... Like when I was working in a VERY prominent bank in Malaysia, max OT is 2 hours, basic RM 2000, OT is 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0... Great right? But only for execs... Clerks, well they getting less than that but they are still pretty much covered...
But in another company I was working in, they were abusing employees to the max... I used to work like 12 hours a day and 6 days week... Audit time worse, had to stay longer... The reason is, boss will give work cuz got limited time... Directors expect everything immediately... So because of that, the boss force employees to work long hours but we don't get paid OT or aren't even given Medical benefit... salary was around RM 1500...
One more person working in that company for nearly 15 years working under same condition but salary was RM 1200... Somemore, nearly 50 years of age, hubby retired and due to medical reasons, can't work... Plus got 3 kids who are still in primary school...
You can't say Malaysians are generally lazy... That's not fair... But if they are, when you see companies like these, can you really blame Malaysians not having the motivation to work harder? In fact most of them should be depressed... Work hard, earn peanuts, no time for kids... That kind of life, you should go insane...
it depends on what field you are in i guess, my friends in auditing firms get a terrible fanfare. i do mean a terrible fanfare, 2.4k per mth running 10 hours per day. however another friend in consulting earns less but has less OT, goes back at 6 and doesnt have the problems you mentioned. there are more, but just as there is one crazy 9-10 fag theres another 9-6 fagBut in another company I was working in, they were abusing employees to the max... i could add on,
however based on observation, i do find malaysians least from the ones ive met to be lazy or badly structured. knew one chap who was just terrible and surviving in a accounting firm, having a fools time but nothing as terrible as what you mention. he was earning about 2k another bloke trollin about here and there, and surviving well. but nothing that makes you go wow, this guy is teh shit. to be honest most of them get money club it empty over the weekends and then rinse and repeat. also id hardly call em hardworking lads, either.
but you also didnt mention the job scope, a 1.5k salary seems woefully low for an experienced personnel. most fags i know earn 2k fresh grad. thus something fishy there, naturally a clerk cant work and get a high pay.
but in a larger view, if you dont work hard company doesnt go far. thus cannot pay you well. while its a simple model and i did remove bad bosses (had one before) the idea is generally similar all around the system. its always we must have money first then work, this is the same all around, from politics, business and to the snobbish kid off the block.
"eh gov sucks ar they "should" step down for the country to grow"
"eh, pay less lar they "should" pay us more for us to live"
but never
eh gov sucks ar, lets find a way to force them to step down
or pay less ar lets find a way to create more pay individually
they tend to see problem, but rely on boss/politician/father to fix it instead of taking hte helm
this sounds just soo familiar no?
at the end of the day if you ask me still, malaysians in general suck? yea. you can say these guys work like mad and get nowhere, sure cool but i have never met them too. but what i have met are good "corporate" minded folks and they make the standard malaysian look like a 15 yr old out of pmr. their knowledge, self-confidance, skills, people skills, and motivation methods speak years of experience. however these people are mere uni grads and sadly we dont hold a candle to them.
