I took two months off from the bar and switched to dumbbells, but there was no improvement in the imbalance for my body. Right lat, chest, glutes, quads, calve are bigger than the left side. Difference is by about half an inch for most parts. I've also noticed that my right foot is longer than my left by half an inch, as well as my right rib cage appearing having less surface area than the left. I'm also left handed.
Although form and me being a newbie has not to be ignored in the equation, but I think a big part of it has to do with genetics too. I've come to accept this, though consciously try to focus my thoughts on how my left side is feeling when I lift (although when I lift I always feel my right side more, even when I'm doing dumbbell bench press). I've tried pumping a few reps using dumbbells on my left side before going to the bench press. I get to feel my left side more as I'm benching when I do this. I'm not sure if this would work in leveling the imbalance, but personally I get the 'feel' for my left side when I do this. Haven't been doing this long enough to notice a difference. I know, it's bro science. I can feel my right side of my shirt and pants being tighter than the right. Kinda uncomfortable. Though in your case it's even more obvious edit: btw, an imbalance at the chest is quite common. just look around at muscle-y people. most of them have a little imbalance. QUOTE(k!d0 @ Oct 1 2010, 08:26 PM) thanks man. i will switch to to dumbbell bench press from now on. so do i nid to add more weights on weaker side? adding more weights on the weaker side is gonna exacerbate the problem even more. Picture this - left side of your musculature is stronger than the right side of your musculature ?? Just continue making good food choices (eating more dead animal flesh aka meat in your case), lift heavy things (relative to your capabilities) and stop worrying so much. U have a long way to go frankly. |

i dont really see much imbalanced-ness there.
i think the only advice i can give is that just keep on training, there's not much else can be done anyway right? besides, nobody has the same exact symmetry right? good luck! |

training 3 times a week is better than 5 times as your muscles have more time to repair themselves and grow. Since you have only started recently, focus on bulking first, do heavy weights with low reps.
Once you got the mass, you can focus on toning them |

two times on the same muscle group is far more than enough for a week!! 5 times means u only keep breaking down your muscles but never let it recover and rest.. too bad
and about the abs.. just google up for pictures of professional bodybuilders.. u can see all kinds of abs' shape, placement, grown and look This post has been edited by law1777: Oct 3 2010, 05:11 PM |
