Hi All,

I have just bought G5 few days ago. So far it's a great phone for me~!!

Anyway, I am having one problem with the WiFi, not sure if I have missed out any settings. I can connect to my WiFi at home without problem. When I tried it outside, lets say Starbucks, it shows that I am connected to the WiFi. But when I try to access to the internet, it shows that there is no data connection. My husband tried to use the same WiFi with his HTC Wildfire, he has no problem at all. Could anyone help here?

Another thing is, anyone know in Klang Valley, where can I get the screen protector and casing/pouch for this baby? Thanks~!!

Added on October 19, 2010, 4:55 pmhmm... also, what is DioPen Chinese IME in Language & Keyboard settings? How can I use it?

Thanks~~

C'mon dude don't insult my intelligence. Before going to the store which may take more than an hour from home, it's better to ask around first. That's life, boy. I've traveled far enough to see different times. It's just that it is painfully frustrating not able to do things that you can do without knowing how to do so, like setting time on a damn phone!!!!
*
hey, chill dude... not sure if this would help you, but try to do this. Still set your time zone back to +8.00, but after that check the first option, which is Automatic. See if this would solve your problem.

to disable the notification from Messaging (built-in software), open the app, select Settings -> Uncheck Notifications, so you will no longer receive notifications from Messaging. It will turn off the ringtone and vibrate from this app all together.

Papago installation,

1.copy the whole NaviSEA folder to sd card root directory
2.copy the apk file to anywhere of your sd card
3.Go to Galaxy 5 apps screen and find "My files", choose the apk file and open it, done

thanks a lot StupidGuyPlayComp~!! biggrin.gif

next, try these step, might can help

1.Go to "Setting" - Location & Security - Use Wireless Networks(always keep tick)
2.Go to "Setting" - Location & Security - Use GPS Satellite (always keep tick)
3.Go to Android market download and install the apps "GPS Booster"
4.Restart phone
5.Go to outdoor (without tall building surrounding within 100m)
6.Open Papago

1st 1-3 times might need longer locking time, later will get better and better

Optional : You can download "GPS Test" at Android market to view the satellite connection status
*
hmm... I am having the same problem too~! the satellite icon with the question mark keep blinking on the right top corner. I have checked my settings and both of the WiFi and GPS are checked, downloaded GPS Booster and restarted my phone as well. But leave it for a night already, still can't get any signal. Until now I'm already in the office (not connected to WiFi now, does it require?) but it's still blinking.... :-(

blink.gif Leave it for a night? I did mentioned that the GPS unable lock in indoor.................try it outdoor with no tall building surrounding.

The papago will temporary stop the gps if went out from the navigation screen, eventhose you enter the "setting" in papago, the gps will stop as well, re-locking needed after access navigation sreen
thanks StupidGuyPlayComp~!
haha... actually it's working, tested just now outside my office... probably at home the GPS signal not strong enough... tongue.gif
but seriously, the UI design is seriously not very user-friendly, have to LEARN how to use this software first...

by the way, anyone have this problem, when you make a phone call, even though the message "double tap to unlock" already appeared on the screen before I put the phone to my ear, ended up still the dial pad will be opened and causing me accidentally press the keypad and making the annoying beeping sound to the other side... and I won't hear a thing from here until the other side told me... sad.gif this is very annoying... did I miss out any step?

hmmm.. got to check that. But I'm pretty sure the gps work cost I tested it by walking up and down the street in front of my house. It got the direction right and the position change after I took just few step. I check it with google map and GPS status apps.
if you are using google map, then there is data charges... otherwise you can try, by switching of your mobile network, you won't be able to see the result as you seen previously from google map... try to use papago, that one doesn't require network connection but only GPS signal

facing some problem with papagox5..satelite icon keep blinking with question mark ..i ticked GPS and wireless network already ..yet still same ..cant locate my current position ..anyone facing this ?
*
i had this problem before... what you can do is, make sure you are outside the building when you are testing your GPS especially for the first time, select Menu->Map View->Function->Current Position, it will tell you (voice) that it's getting the GPS signal, just wait until your position is locked

also, you can download GPS Booster from Market to boost up the GPS speed... hope that this works for you as well. Good luck~!! ^^

1) long press on the text input area -> choose input method -> DioPen Chinese IME
2) by pressing on the settings icon on your keyboard, you can choose different keypad types. so, lets say if you are using either qwerty/3x4 keypads, by pressing on the button which you could switch between alphabet/numbers/symbols, you'll be able to choose also either to use Stroke (only available for 3x4 keypads) or Pinyin for chinese input

have fun with your G5~! ^^
