Hi everyone, good day.

May i ask around here, will I get taxed for importing pocket digital video camera into Malaysia? I just want to buy one unit only, for personal use, not for business. Value is around Rm500.

I was told that cameras items are tax free. Just wanna ask the experts here if it is really so.

Thanks so much for all the kind help and advice.

HI there,

The item which you intend to import is totally duty & tax free, the hs code/tariff (852540000) will be the same as digital camera.
Not to worry and go ahead with your purchase icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi,

Thanks so much for your advice. But someone told me apparently i need to obtain some kind of approval from suruhanjaya Tenaga in order to import the digital camcoder.

So i still need to obtain the approval or i can straight buy and ship into Malaysia? Anyone has tried this?

Thanks again Dreamworkz! notworthy.gif

Cameras are duty-free in Malaysia and no need approval. You are free to import it.
