Guys how you think of this Playbook?

I've never tried it before, never do I own one, but seems it's one of the competiting tablet out in the market.
When I'm searching for more on Playbook, Found this:
http://www.amazon.com/Blackberry-Playbook-...B/dp/B004UL34EY
Playbook $192.90 ~ Some what around 650+ in RM.
Wut? Playbook no value? >.> or it is just really that cheap

The retail price was actually 1k + >.>

yes u cant enter appworld via bridge and also cant enter video chat using bridge mode..both need a wifi connectivity
*
I don't quite understand how the 'bridge' mode works. Does it like link to your bb phone and able to go on to the net via phone's 3G network?? like tethering

QUOTE(moshpit21 @ May 6 2012, 01:58 PM)
The new Playbook 4G is coming out end of this year, but it doesn't mean RIM will stop the support of the current Playbook.
*
Oh really?? Like no news from any where, just that the hottest topic around was the BBX coming out really soon.
Do you mean we can anticipate a Playbook2 coming soon end of this year?

About the bridge, yes it is like tethering but better. Tethering PC/laptop with BB as the modem will connect you to the 3G/WAP connection which is definitely not unlimited compared to bridge that uses the BIS, and tethering with PC as normal usually your BB will get disconnected from BIS, and it doesn't when you bridge with the playbook.

The news is everywhere, here is one of it

Anyone please convert Shine Runner, really appreciate it. Thx

Oh yes, I was actually thinking of waiting to the release of the new one.. or get the recent one.. hmmm

But without chinese input was a hard piece for me

Yes what's wrong with you bashing over? blink.gif
Of course we all knew BBX is not official until Oct of this year, but yet not really sophisticated news compared to the rivals though.

Being a Blackberry user, I believe I might know less about blackberry in certain times. Even that it was just few months before I knew that Blackberry had a tablet in the market. whistling.gif
As for ranting before doing homework, wanna provide some homework for me eh? drool.gif laugh.gif

By the way, Storekini at LYN was selling it. Specs there stated PB doesn't have GPS and bluetooth. Real? flex.gif

PB has GPS and Bluetooth, bridge connection between BB and PB is over bluetooth

Oh I see. Thanks for telling me that moshpit.
So, GPS is already inside, or need to bridge connection only can use?

Seems like Playbook had a lot of features disabled without bridge-ing with a BB, isn't it?

Sorry, I apologize, not to sound harsh here.

Hmm not really, GPS is already built in, no need bridge to work.

Without bridge you lost BBM, bridged notes, tasks, calendar and contacts which is not so important for non-BB users. But the most useful thing is bridged internet. Practically free + unlimited under BIS usage.
*
It's okay. ^^

GPS is already built in, in meaning that does it need Internet Connection for it to work? (Like iPad do)
If not, it's really awesome.

Being bridged the internet, I thought it was limited under quota of the BB's internet plan?
Like let say 3gb Smart plan by Digi

Does not need internet but most GPS apps still need internet to get map details like google maps, etc. And playbook GPS is kinda slow to be detected/locked so I don't really use it.

For your information, the bridged internet is considered BIS, anything under BIS is not subjected or limited to any quota. I am using maxis RM20 BIS Bonus prepaid, only 100mb 'quota' but every month I use 2~3GB with bridging to playbook biggrin.gif
*
Eh, that seems fantastic! How come it doesn't deduct from the usage of internet service of the phone's plan?
Instead, where do PB get it's data from if bridge with BB but not using BB's data quota?

For your info, anything under BIS is unlimited except streaming and tethering on the phone. But bridging to playbook is not considered tethering, it's a special connection via bluetooth, and all internet usage in PB are under BIS, so unlimited!

Watching youtube non-stop no problem right. What about the speed? According to the network which the BB is onto? (3G/2G)

Yea can stream youtube all I want. Speed is same as my BB speed, around 100+ KB/s with my maxis 3G.

Can stream youtube 480p, if 720p also can but just need to wait it to load first. My friends with ipad and android tabs need to buy separate sim card and plan but I don't biggrin.gif
*
Wow, that seems so tempting...
Just lost my iPad weeks ago and feel like replacing it with another tablet to myself. Now I really want to have a Playbook, with my BB9780. Taking account to that my BB doesn't support OS7, Wifi Hotspot, Playbook is the best choice for me to surf with my BB together.

Should get 1 right now or wait.... brows.gif

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ May 8 2012, 10:38 AM)
You have a 9780, they will make good friends smile.gif Since PB will get BB10 update in the future, if you buy PB now you won't be outdated. The new PB 4G PB isn't worth it because it will be definitely pricier (assuming same price with 1st PB launching price) with just sim card slot and higher processor clock rate. With QNX you don't need that high clock rate.

Now PB is quite cheap, 64GB is only RM1.1-1.2k. I suggest you take the 32/64gb smile.gif
*
I was considering that will the new PB with better processor or ram or whatever hardware improvement during the next launch. Since it is almost a year after the current playbook is launch, wouldn't RIM be preparing something like 'Playbook 2'? Or am I mistaken without doing homework? @@

It is almost impossible the pad still lying there lo

How long did the iPad was left alone at the table? lol
Mine was just like 5 minutes not in sight, then gone. Gotta becareful, snatchie everywhere

Bro Kentchow75, I regretted getting a 16G PB coz it was never enuf for such a awesome tablet. Medias run super smooth in PB. Not enuf storage to store my videos. Recording in HD is very good too....

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ May 9 2012, 02:03 AM)
Looks like you didn't got the news, it was announced long ago that the next playbook is nothing more than a playbook with additional 4G/LTE compatibility.

It will look exactly the same except the sim card slot, and for your info, most probably 1.5GHz dual core (as opposed to current 1.0GHz dual core) but it's using a similar processor, just higher clock rate. Will not affect much because the current playbook is already so smooth. RAM, same, 1GB, the rest all same (screen, OS, buttons, etc).

AND WORST IS: new playbook will have lower battery life (4xxx mAh compared with current 5300mAh).

So the new playbook conclusion:
-More like a ipad 2 Wifi vs ipad 2 Wifi + 3G scenario, not ipad 2 vs ipad 3
-It is not a playbook 2, it is just a current playbook with sim card
-faster clock rate, similar processor
-lower battery life
-expensive biggrin.gif

And oh yea, my 64GB playbook is less than 1 month old, already 17GB used. Cuz can play PS1/gameboy/SNES/SEGA games... and play all HD videos etc. Fills up quite fast!
*
Oh I see, thanks for the great info.
Now I knew much more about playbook, time to get one. tongue.gif

Where you guys got your playbook from?
I was thinking on getting one at LYN forum, or Storekini(but now no stock), or go Lowyat Mall see.
Average price?

Oh really? He's quite cool in his conversation. Wonder if he's in busy or what.

QUOTE(clieman @ May 9 2012, 10:13 PM)
Good news. Read from Crackberry.com. New OS2.1 + Bridge will at least support

1. SMS over bridge. Now you can read email, BBM and SMS over bridge. Wonder when they'll add in Whatsapp and other IM stuffs? But it at least fixed 66% of my IM apps

2. Bridge over WiFi. So now when you are at work/home with your BB and PB both on WiFI, bridge will work. No need to turn on bluetooth like so stupid..

And many more...

I guess..

How much you got for it? I though 1199 was actually average price, not the cheapest

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ May 9 2012, 11:14 PM)
lol bro, you know how much was playbook when it was just launched? 499USD for 16GB, that's like RM1.5k++ for 16GB, and 699 USD for 64gb (RM2.1k++).

"The BlackBerry PlayBook with Wi-Fi will come in three models, featuring 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage at $499, $599 and $699 respectively”

Now it's like RM1k cheaper... Hahaha that's why I say don't buy the 4G Playbook, because most probably will be priced at $499/599/699 too...
*
Oh well, it's much overpriced compared to now. rclxm9.gif
