Internet reviews on the Playbook has not been encouraging. Doubt that it will be an iPad killer.

@dicksonbell. PB runs a sandboxed 2.3 Android. After that its an android. Call it android os emulator on pb. That's how it works.

QUOTE BlackBerry PlayBook supports Android Gingerbread apps The 7-inch tablets will be able to run Android 2.3 Gingerbread compatible apps only and in a special sandbox environment set up on the tablet so as to not "mix" with RIM's native apps. There is another catch too however, Android app developers will need to repackage and resubmit their apps to BlackBerry World, where they will first be reviewed before being accepted into the BlackBerry PlayBook store. While this doesn't mean that BlackBerry PlayBook users will have access to the 100,00+ Android apps currently out there, it does give some sense of hope to early adopter that there will be some popular titles to pick from come April 19th. No word yet on how these Android apps would perform on a PlayBook versus say the Motorola Xoom, but seeing that many popular titles such as Angry Birds are written in C+, the experience should be about the same Added on April 23, 2011, 12:57 amas usual,at first there is really limited apps from android can be use on PB as the creator must repack and resubmit to app world. I believe it will grow up fast! No worry This post has been edited by alieamin: Apr 23 2011, 12:57 AM |
