Not even IE emulators of some sort meh? Aiyaiyai! But yeah, if the Playbook do not support HTTPS, then I will not buy it.
dicksonbell, do find out and post here your findings bro! Mucha thanks!

i dun think it is a problem with https in BB browser. i am able to login to the full website (not mobile site) of maybank2u and perform transactions there. so it could possibly be some function that ur website is using that was not supported by the current BB browser.

Added on January 26, 2011, 5:30 pmBlackBerry PlayBook will have 4,000 apps at launch; battery life better than iPad?

user posted image

In an interview, RIM’s VP Jeff McDowell has estimated that there should be about 4,000 or more third party apps available to download for the BlackBerry PlayBook at its launch. McDoweel also made the claim that the PlayBook’s battery life will be equal to or greater than the current Apple iPad. It is a good thing to know that the battery life should be improved, as criticism did strike at the PlayBook for a brief moment.

The amount of apps that RIM seems to be estimating for the PlayBook sounds good. Although, we wonder how well of quality the apps will be when compared to others currently available on Android and Apple. Our other concern is the likeliness for the PlayBook to garner more developer support with its launch with the QNX operating system being so new to the market. What kind of apps would you like to see on the PlayBook?

Added on January 27, 2011, 1:41 amExclusive: BlackBerry PlayBook and smartphones to run Android apps?

user posted image

As crazy as that sounds, we have been told by multiple trusted sources that RIM is seriously considering a feature that will allow BlackBerry devices to run Android apps. Here is what we know… Research In Motion has been trying to figure out the path it wants to take as far as how the existing Java environment will work on its upcoming QNX tablet and smartphones. The company has publicly stated that it is looking at getting a Java virtual machine running on the PlayBook — not so much for app development going forward, but for legacy support, custom apps corporations have deployed and don’t want to recreate, etc — but RIM hasn’t yet decided what kind of Java VM it will use. Hit the break for the rest!

Here is the big news: we have been told RIM is very much considering the Dalvik virtual machine, and we ultimately expect the company to chose Dalvik. If that sounds familiar to you, it’s because it’s the same VM that the Android OS uses, and it would allow RIM’s PlayBook and other QNX devices to run just about any application built for the Android platform.

There are various approaches to this situation — one where RIM uses the open source Dalvik VM and does not involve Google, and another (incredible) scenario where RIM and Google might reach an agreement (basically “certify” the device/platform) that would provide official support to Android apps on RIM’s QNX-based OS, and would feature the Android Market, Google’s Gmail, Maps, and other apps.

With the bold moves RIM has taken lately — QNX, the acquisition of the great UI team at The Astonishing Tribe, and possibly the ability to run any and all Android apps — if the company can hang on just a little longer, it could be poised to attack the market again in a huge way.

Added on February 4, 2011, 1:09 amBlackBerry PlayBook Video Showing Portrait Mode

user posted image

The BlackBerry PlayBook has been said to work on both, landscape and portrait mode, but no one had the chance of seeing it working in portrait mode…until now. A video demo of the tablet has been released by Lotusphere where you can see Paul Steel from RIM showing off the device’s homescreen and keyboard in potrait mode.

The release date for the PlayBook is somewhere in Q1 so for those of you interested start saving up some cash for it! Check out the video at the link below and let us know in the comments how would you use your PlayBook, landscape or portrait mode?
