So it doesnt really matter. What matter is what this phone is capable of Then i saw some reviews show 65k while others show 16M. What's the difference anyways ? |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Oct 14 2010, 01:13 AM) Yup; as long as the colour is "enough" or "acceptable". +1 to sifu Andy214If you're talking about 256 colour VS 65K colour, then you will see big difference surely; For 65K, it's considered "enough" or "adequate" for most of the situations; Of course, more is usually always better. Normally if you don't see the spec whether it's 65K or 16M, you won't even know or notice the lack of colours. So, it shouldn't be an issue. The real issue should be the lack of memory, which even if you don't see the spec sheet or don't know how much it has, you will FEEL it or experience the lack of memory issue. The N900 only have 256MB ram, the additional 768MB are virtual memory which is actually not really good as it's very slow; Then again, as the saying goes, HKM is better than MTM. Still, they should've provided more RAM, at least 512MB... more the better. HKM = Hou Ko Mou (At least have) MTM = Mat Tou Mou (don't have anything) While the processor although "adequate", similarly, it would be better if there is more; At least capable of shooting 720p videos smoothly @ 30fps and also playback quality. Maemo OS is really unique and great, it's held back by power of N900. We can even watch RMVB videos, but due to the lack of processing power, it can't play back smoothly; Not sure if there is GPU procesing, it will be better or not, but still it would be great to have a powerful hardware because hardware on mobile mostly can't be upgraded. His explaination always very geng This post has been edited by aspire2oo6: Oct 14 2010, 01:17 AM |

QUOTE(ShrugsLova @ Oct 14 2010, 10:04 AM) i know how to answer his, on behalf of aspire (cause he gave the same answer almost everytime) +1 Sifu really sifu shrugslova yeah.*ahem* aspire tone: "if you're looking for a tablet, N900 is the choice; But if you're aiming for multimedia, i'll pick N8" then here come the final word: "you can't actually compare those two phone, cause N900 is more on net surfing while N8 is more on the multimedia" well said? N8 wont able to replace N900 in internet connectivity except flash 10. So its more like what do you want do with it. QUOTE(DET_D5t @ Oct 14 2010, 09:53 AM) May i ask u Sifu Aspire.. I not sifu leSince u also waiting for N8.. Personally, If u given a choice, which one u prefer most? N900 or N8...?? I still prefer Nokia N900 because of the screen resolution for internet Means viewing website it display more compare to N8 Gaming and camera = N8 N8 = 360 x 640 N900 = 800 x 480 Ip4 = 640 x 960 See the difference so the benefit u do not need to zoom in to see the text clearly. Iphone 4 currently the highest resolution phone so for internet browsing its amazing experience. QUOTE(DET_D5t @ Oct 14 2010, 11:17 PM) Oic.. i thought N8 was made to 'fight' Ip4.. cant win iphone 4. Only n8 camera and design surpass the Ip4After reading all of this, it give me much more confidence that buying this hp was a right choice.. Besides, i already learn a bit using the xterm..lol I wish i can reach a level that can make our own scripts for the apps..lol Btw,I oso hope that this becoming PR1.3 can support 3g video call. My son already complaint about this...hoho "why u bought such an expensive phone if there is no video call?" better get a cheap2 but can make video call..haha |

![]() Knife gun in action by thenokiagallery, on Flickr Added on October 14, 2010, 11:31 pm QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Oct 14 2010, 11:22 PM) Ok.Lets talk about N8 vs N900. +1 u saying it all sifu_super_evil_alienFirst of all it's unfair to compare N8 with N900. It's because N900 is a experimental device(a very stable experimental device) & N8 is a full fledged "smartphone". On to the real thing. Display. As aspire pointed out, capacitive or resistive;CBD or nothing; the higher amount of pixel will always be better for overall viewing,N900 have 800 x 480 which helps it browse internet well.N8 have much lower reso. Battery.N900's battery last about 1 day on normal usage.Main reason why battery life so low is probably because Maemo is basically a desktop class OS with much more "things" than normal OS.N8's symbian^3 should do a lot better this this section although it's only using 1.2A battery. OS.This make or break for 99% of users.Maemo is an experimental OS.It's discontinued & the next version will be MeeGo.N900 will be able to run both this OS.Amount of OS is very low for this OS because of small amount of users & lack of promotion of this OS to the developers by Nokia. However things will change with MeeGo since Intel + Nokia are going all out to woo developers for MeeGo.Symbian meanwhile always had a good support. There are plenty of apps out there. But I'm not sure whether previous version of symbians apps will run in s^3 or not. It's because s^3 is rewritten in qt there's been lots of change in kernels. However in this moment S^3 seems like a more sensible choice of average users. Eye candy.N900 lose badly in this section. It's bulky, weights more & everything but it's got QWERTY keyboard.I'll choose physical qwerty anyday over in screen only keyboard.N8 looks pretty nice overall. From what I've heard from a Nokia R& D worker they have checked "upside & down" that N8 don't have any design flaw like N900's earlier microUSB port. Usage.N900 is a Internet Tablet. The browsing ability of this phone beat the crap out of N8(from the early reviews). On multimedia side N8 beat the crap out N900.HDMI,good speakers, camera, bla bla bla,you can google for the rest of multimedia functions. On overall I'll stay N900 is slighty better because while being good in browsing section,it's also very good at multimedia side. For example we have fcamera that'll help to take DSLR like pictures. Also we have dual speakers(it'll be nice if Nokia includes equalizer in PR1.3).You can also watch videos while connection your LCD to N900.I've done this to watch standard movie avi file while connected to 42" LCD & the file plays perfectly. In simpler word,if your just average joe phone user with badass camera phone, take N8.But if you're into "adventurous" side of phone, take N900.You'll have fun learning new things everyday with this device. Anyone want to add?Andy? This post has been edited by aspire2oo6: Oct 14 2010, 11:31 PM |
