Wenger - The team had no electricity
Arsène Wenger admits his team suffered a 'power cut' at Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Arsenal went into the game against West Bromwich Albion on the back of a magnificent win at Tottenham in midweek and with high hopes of cutting Chelsea's lead at the top of the Premier League to one point after the champions lost at Manchester City. But Wenger's side were a pale shadow of their usual selves and Albion took full advantage, scoring three times in 23 second-half minutes to build what proved to be an unassailable lead, despite a late brace from Samir Nasri. Wenger was left to ponder the reasons for one of the most listless performances of his 14-year tenure and promised to make changes for Tuesday's Champions League trip to Partizan Belgrade. "What is the most frustrating is that there was no electricity there," said the manager. "We had lost a generator and then it becomes difficult to play football. I knew after the first five minutes, you saw that it was all flat. It is unusual for us because we are usually a team that has energy. We were just not there. I can't remember the last time [we were like that]. It was mysterious what happened. "West Brom played very well but it is the usual defending we get when we play. We made really basic errors defensively if you analyse any of the goals. I just feel that from back to forward we were flat and poor. "It won't stay on my mind too long," he added. "We never forget it but we play on Tuesday night so of course we have to analyse what happened. I don't know yet [how many changes I will make for the Partizan game] but there will be some changes, that is for sure." sos |

Arsenal legend training at London Colney
A familiar face is back at London Colney - Arsenal legend Robert Pires. The Frenchman was a key member of the 'Invincibles' squad that completed an unbeaten Premier League campaign in 2003/04 and he is currently a free agent having been released by Villarreal during the summer. Like David Beckham and Sol Campbell before him, Pires has been given permission to work on his fitness at Arsenal's training ground. Pires made 284 appearances for Arsène Wenger's side from 2000 to 2006, scoring 84 goals during that time. He won the League and FA Cup 'double' twice, scored the winner in the 2003 FA Cup Final and was voted Footballer of the Year in 2002. The 36-year-old made a memorable return to North London last year when he played for Villarreal in a Champions League Quarter-Final at Emirates Stadium. Sos |

Ramsey wins Wales Young Player award
Aaron Ramsey has been named Wales Young Player of the Year at an awards ceremony in Cardiff. The Arsenal midfielder was honoured at the Brains FAW Awards Evening on Monday despite spending much of the year recovering from the broken leg he suffered against Stoke City in February. Ramsey, who also won the Young Player award last year, produced a man of the match performance for Wales against Scotland at the start of 2010 and is regarded as his country's most promising young talent. sos |

Barcelona Interested In Surprise Move For Arsenal Midfielder Denilson - Report
Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta is allegedly considering an approach for Arsenal midfielder Denilson, according to reports from Spain. AS comments that the Brazilian is a player Zubizarreta greatly admires, and will discuss a move for the 22-year-old with coach Pep Guardiola, who will have the final say on whether plans for a summer swoop will commence. The former Brazil u-20 captain moved to the London club in the summer of 2006, and has made 122 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, but has only made one appearance so far this season. Denilson’s ability to play in any position across the centre of the pitch makes him an attractive proposition for the Blaugrana, whose modest squad is being tested with injuries to Pedro Rodriguez and Xavi leading to members of the B squad being promoted to provide strength in numbers. He is contracted until 2014, but apparently hopeful of securing a new deal next summer. However the Sao Paulo graduate would consider a move to the Camp Nou, where his first team experience gained in the English Premier League would be of significant importance to the Catalan giants. Sos anyway its from GOAL.com.. |

Arsenal Starlet Craig Eastmond Arrested On Suspicion of Indecent Exposure: Teenager Accused of Flashing A TEENAGE Arsenal footballer has been arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure. Midfielder Craig Eastmond, 19 – who signed a long-term Gunners deal this year and is tipped for England – was bailed until next month. A Met Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that on Wednesday October 6, police received an allegation of indecent exposure from a woman in Battersea. A 19-year-old man attended a South London police station and was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure. “He has been bailed to return on a date in November pending further enquiries.” (The Sun) When you think of ‘flashers’, and I try not to do so too often, images of old men in raincoats spring to mind. Rarely do you think of a young footballer exposing himself in public. One can only imagine that a certain amount of drinking was involved and no doubt there will be an outcry that blows this all out of proportion. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding? Maybe his trousers just fell down? Hang on didn’t that happen with another Arsenal player…. zzz |
