If the iPod has camera on it, then it's 4th generation. If not, post up an image or google up images of its predecessors and verify.
You may install GPS apps on the iPod but you won't be able to utilize it as iPod doesn't have 3G capability.

download VLC player, open itunes, click on your device's name, and look at the tab "apps" scroll down, and click on VLC player, then drag the files into the box next to the VLC player's logo

it's everything like iphone, but minus the function of a phone. you can't call and sms through telco network, but there are apps that can send message and call to other people who has the same app. it can only happen when you are connected to wifi.

Yup, with the functions of a Personal Digital Assistant as well... Why PDA, you may ask? Well, other than the obvious entertainment value the iPod touch offers (games, Music, Facebook, Twitter), I'm using it as a working device courtesy of these apps:
- Calendars (appointment scheduler)
- ToDo (task management)
- iXpenseIt (expense tracking + recording)
- Notebook (handy notepad, alternative to the built-in Notes)
- Bloomberg (monitoring the KL + regional bourses and selected stocks)
- CNBC (business news)
- Currencies (foreign exchange)
- And many more!

In other words, think of the touch as an MP3 player, combined with the usage of a Palm / Windows Mobile device but with loads more great software to download from the App Store and minus the phone functions! biggrin.gif

Allow me to simplify it further more. It's like a macbook on your palm. You can do anything with it with the right apps and internet connection except for calling people using telco network. icon_rolleyes.gif
