I have a question for the aspiring writers on lowyat.

Ever get that sudden flash of inspiration, that one moment of brilliance where you're on a roll, and you keep on writing and writing, every word falls in to place, every thought perfectly articulated on paper, emotion positively dripping from the pages, and you think "Oh god I'm a bloody genius. People should be begging me to let them read my written Word".

You stare at it in amazement, scanning through it again, and think "God I wrote this? I mean I thought I was good but I didn't know I was THIS good", and you walk away grinning like mad.

Then, after a day or two, you come back to read it and you think "God I wrote this? This sappy melodramatic sob fest? A angsty emo kid who wails about how life sucks could write better than this" , cringing at every sentence.

I get this feeling every single damn time. Is this normal? 0-o

I actually go quite the opposite...at first I'm my own worst critic...I read it over and over again and decide I hate it and I can never write well. Then I drop it and stop writing because I can never seem to write it right. Then a few months later I come back and reread it and I'm like whoa...I wrote that? Why did I stop??
