I have a question.

If there's a problem with my iPhone, will I have to send it directly to Apple SG or will an authorized reseller be able to help me claim warranty? I bought mine from the SG Apple Store.
*
need to send to Apple SG smile.gif the country your phone originated from

Is the battery actually replaceable? If yes I think any repair shop would be able to do it.
*
should be replaceable, otherwise how if the battery spoiled

but my concern is SG unit can send to local Apple Authorize seller like Machines/MacStudio/Switch to get them replace??
I will pay them for battery replacement. smile.gif

why still need to buy sg set since the local IP4 not much diff in price.
*
they dont need a plan or contract

i am using RM99 unlimited data plan(currently no longer available for new subscriber), none of the Maxis iphone 4 plan able to cater for my heavy data usage biggrin.gif

unless can buy iphone 4 outright, but there is no confirm source or announcement from Maxis, some able to get, some complaint cannot, eventhough buy outright, SG set still cheaper by RM200+, if you consider local warranty, it might be worth paying extra RM200+ smile.gif

can get bk the gst refund is it if we buy from singapore?
and there is no more free casing is it?
*
should be no more according to date, but you still can try you luck after you get your iPhone

i dont think able to claim GST because it is purchased online, nobody here successfully claim the GST i believe.

between, the time frame is 2 weeks now if buying from SG App Store, one week shorter when i buy on mid of Sept smile.gif
maybe due to Maxis and Digi already start selling iPhone 4, less Malaysian getting from SG App Store

It's different in Singapore, as I recall the visa is in a form of card and not attached to the passport.

Let's hear from others as well smile.gif thanks bbsupplements

If my bro is able to reclaim the 7% GST, thats quite a sum to be honest. S$62 per unit, he bought 4.
*
the iphone 4 GST is SGD58.xx only, is ~SGD829 * 0.07

they will know if you have work permit / PR if you work there

but no idea about student

as the T&C for claiming GST is for traveler only smile.gif

refer here info

and lastly, good luck if going to carry by flight when reaching Malaysia Airport
Malaysia custom will not impose tax on PDA type phone, but all electrical device need to be approve by SIRIM, it will be abit troublesome if one time carry 4 units come in and very unlucky that you have stop by Malaysia custom, because if carry one unit, you can open it up biggrin.gif (unwrapping all 4 units is the most safe lol)
so far, maybe nobody here get caught when bringing back, but just for your information, if somebody unlucky...

there is no apple shop in Sg and apple premium reseller doesn't carry any. you also unlikely to get one from telcos without a contract

Added on November 11, 2010, 1:05 am
to import phone into Malaysia, you need a telecommunication (from telecom?) approval letter and you also need to pay Malaysia tax for it. Most likely your item will be retain until you settle the 2 things.
*
should be SIRIM approval, i dont think we need to get telecommunication approval

PDA phone is exempted from tax years ago i think, if iPhone 4 consider a PDA phone, Malaysia custom will not impose tax

this year 2010 budget also make ordinary phone exempted from tax, if it is effective from the day the budget announced, Malaysia custom will not impose tax on your iPhone 4 (dont care it is PDA phone or ordinary phone anymore biggrin.gif)

but then it is already quite troublesome to get SIRIM approval smile.gif

Sirim only in charge of quality control iirc. you still need a permit from the telecommunication ministry to bring in a phone. iP4 is categorized under smart phone so tax do apply.
*
I do not know whether need permit from telecommunication or not
normally we do not see any cert or sticker stick on the phone if it has been permitted by our Malaysia telecommunication, only SIRIM approved sticker, because the Malaysia Custom just inform me to get SIRIM approval when we bring in handphone/PDA smile.gif tax will be applied if it is not PDA phone.

just for you guys information, i have send one i4 to QCD@Tagore for warranty claim

thing you guys should aware if you send back to claim warranty

if they exchange one to one for you, MUST check the replacement set do have yellowish screen or not (not yellow spot), the whole screen completely look more yellowish

I have search some Singapore forums, lots of replacement set from QCD do have yellowish screen, some users are ok with it, because the yellowish screen with color temp ~6200k, the blueish screen (people said this should be the normal one) with color temp 7000k

the reason why some users are ok with it is because they said ~6200k color temp from a photographer point of view, it is more natural biggrin.gif

I am not a photographer so when I get a more yellowish screen as the replacement set, I have request for another exchange, in the end they get me a normal blueish i4 smile.gif

overall, the service at QCD is good, they do not ask much when you send in a defect i4 biggrin.gif
