Just want to get some ideas if the activation really requires Wifi and not 3G only as m what I read here some manage to activate theirs via Wifi and some manage to activate theirs only using by using 3G. How many manage to activate via 3G here? Been waiting to activate it since 3pm junst now until now no progress. My FaceTime can turn OFF by itself. shakehead.gif

Just for your info. Celcom upgraded their system for Central Region last week however they have yet to do so for other regions. They have also bought huge pipe from Sacoffa to link KL with East Malaysia.
I would assume one you get CALL FAILED on your phone then you will know they are upgrading the system in East Malaysia.

Oh I see. No wonder nowadays my 3G lines drops more often then before. It always changes from the 3G to EDGE and then to GSM. Guess have to wait then a few monts to enjoy the FaceTime. Wonder why here everything seems to come late then the other states. cry.gif

Just wondering about this iPhone thing. Why did it a FaceTime in first place, where you will have to need Wifi originally to use it and can only be between iPhone to iPhone users. Why Apple did not just be like Nokia or other mobile phone manufacture by allowing iPhone to be used like the Video Call. Maybe they can make the iPhone that can do video call via 3G and the same time allowing the iPhone to contact other iPhone for free via Wifi. Would love that feature: be able to make video call via 3G to other models of mobile/smart phones and making video call for free for iPhone to iPhone.

That is the main reasons why I dump my Blackberry 9700 cause it has limited functions such as video call. unsure.gif

@nalvinj have you used a 3G phone and made a video call? compare it to a FaceTime call...

also, a FaceTime call is simple & straightforward. one button. that's all. last but not least, FaceTime is a modern, open technology that Apple hopes the rest of the computer AND mobile phone industry will adopt.

tl;dr version : Apple has built a better video call technology, leaving out the old version.

Yes, I have tried using 3G to make video call on Nokia phone but unfortunately I can't compare them now as I still need to try FaceTime as mine still can't activate yet.

So happy everyone is able to activate once I announce it.

Nalvinj I tried with wifi my sister tried with 3G . All my 3G and wifi are all on. Didn't do anything specifically but just off and on only.I guess u need to come Kl to activate it.

*
Need to go to KL to activate it? Now I'm thinking something is not quite right here. As far as my knowledge, we need to send SMS activation to get the FaceTime going right? So what is the relationship between activating it here in Sarawak and in KL. Does this means that CELCOM is behind Maxis and Digi in placing some hardware here in Sarawak that enables data to be send? Since mostly those who are able to activate their FaceTime are from Semenanjung (I don't know if some are able to activate it are from Sabah or Sarawak).

My point is that, Celcom as the best provider as they claim should have the same technology as Maxis and Digi (cause they can activate Facetime with ease) and also Celcom, unlike Digi and Maxis are still holding on either to introduce iPhone 4 to it's customer but yet comes out with new Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Well, kinda of blur now cause still can't activate my FaceTime. Huhuhuhu... cry.gif

*
What? Everytime you try to activate FaceTime they charge you? I thought that only sucessfull activation only been charged. Should be carefull now and will not activate FaceTime for a while them until it is more stable. doh.gif

Yurp It charge 20 sen for every switch ON/OFF or After restart your iPhone. I think better i stay off from FaceTime for a while. Better using Mac to Mac facetime.
*
Agree on that. So no more FaceTime for me until it is good for good! Haha. icon_rolleyes.gif

do they sell iphone saperately?? coz last time i asked maxis, they told me their iphone comes with data plan and not sold saperately.

My friend got it from a normal phone shop, not the Maxis dealer. Plenty of the phone shops now sells the Maxis warranty iPhone 4(still have the Maxis warranty card).
