QUOTE(objectifyme @ Sep 24 2010, 03:26 PM) Go in as early as possible if you hate waiting. The numbers move very slowly. Btw, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but Maxis does offer trade-in for any phone. There's even a booth and everything. If u guys need me to ask them some questions, let me know. Also, accessories are available. They even help u put the screen protector on. Dude, is there a trade-in offer for Nokia E71?

I was told by a rep at the Gardens Maxis Centre that starting Sunday you can by the iPhone 4 without a contract or plan or other condition. Can anyone confirm this?

I was one of the registrants for the 6-10pm session at Gardens on Friday. After I'd gotten a ticket, Maxis called me and asked me to switch to Sunday 26th at KLCC from 9-12pm. Since the queue was outrageous I agreed. Talked with the reps at the Gardens event, they said that I could get a 2nd iPhone outright purchase. The Maxis rep on the phone also assured me that this would be the case at KLCC.
After that I went to the Gardens Maxis centre to see if something could be done for my gf's port-in from Celcom. The rep there told me that I could purchase the iPhone 4 outright without contract on Sunday from KLCC.
Arrived at KLCC at 9am today - rep told me that I was unable to do an outright purchase without contract and unable to get the 2nd iPhone as an outright purchase. Proceeded to get a number.
Went for breakfast and came back at around 10am. Once my number turned up, the rep at the counter who processed my plan+purchase also told me that I couldn't get the 2nd iPhone as an outright purchase.
Then it just so happened that I met the same rep from Gardens who said that I could get the 2nd unit outright and told him of my dissatisfaction. It turned out that he was an assistant manager and went to work something out. When he came back, he advised to get an RM8.80 Hotlink prepaid line to buy the 2nd iPhone against and instructed the rep to process it for me. I registered a Hotlink number and then went through the purchasing process for the 2nd iPhone.
All in all I was done by 12pm.
Conclusions: 1. People who registered their interest for the Gardens events are not guaranteed to get a 2nd iPhone purchase outright, if they have moved their session to a Maxis centre. 2. Contractless outright purchases may or may not happen. 3. Hotlink prepaid purchases are officially not started yet. 4. Information and instructions are not being cascaded uniformly down to the Maxis reps. Different rep, different story.
Some claimed insider info: 150 16GB and 150 32GB iPhone 4 units were allocated to the KLCC centre for the public 100 16GB and 100 32GB iPhone 4 units were allocated to the TTDI centre for the public
