Using WEP. My Hero can connect the first time, but if I disconnect or leave the area it cannot connect anymore. I have to restart the router.

None of my other gadgets have this problem.

No la bro, Android will automatically choose wifi over mobile data. Android also understand the fact that mobile data is expensive....  biggrin.gif

Sometimes its quite hard to notice if you step into outer weak wifi zone then it will automatically switch to mobile data. mad.gif Last time I used Symbian & Win Mo, I had to make the mobile network setting wrong for it to stop eating my wallet. cry.gif Even my old iPhone 2G I have to install 3rd party s/w as the standard setting can't disable mobile network. rclxub.gif

At least with stock android when it's off, it stays off. thumbup.gif

Actually Symbian has an option to set the connection to ALWAYS ASK if thats your preferred way to connect to the internet, each and every time it requires data connection.

yes, it's possible. my wife's E71 always ask which connection to use.

I still don't understand why Nokia is so reluctant to use android. I seriously doubt symbian^3 will rescue Nokia

I think Nokia Ovi (or PC Suite) is quite crappy anyway (I would prefer to sync between PC and phone with simple cable and "Disk mode")

Cloud computing is the way to go laugh.gif

Anyway, Nokia says "Using Android is like peeing in your pants for warmth in winter" (i.e., short term solution)

I thought they are going to concentrate on Meego in future, not Symbian^3?

isn't it supposed to be 'connect to wifi'?

mobile network is our mobile network eg maxis, celcom, digi internet service
*
Yes, I was describing more than one problem. Sorry I wasn't clear. Besides WiFi, I sometimes have problems with the Mobile Network internet connection. It will display E or H, and says it's connected, but I can't browse or surf. To solve this I have to wait a while, restart toggle the Mobile Internet or restart my Hero.

QUOTE(alpha0201 @ Sep 21 2010, 12:57 PM)
You turned on both Mobile Network & Wifi. You have to turn off mobile network or else your phone will juggle between the 2 which ever have active connection.
*
It shouldn't matter, a lot of my friends turn both on, and Android should select WiFi only. The problem is even if I only use WiFi, it has trouble connecting to my WAG54G2.

I dont ever want to use a sync app again. I am so used to cloud syncing that having a sync apo will make things looks bad. Who needs a computer when you can sync to a server. I can sync my info while being in another country far from my computer. Thats the way it should be. smile.gif

Added on September 22, 2010, 4:13 pmAnd yes, android does give priority to wifi over mobile data. It will only switch when the wifi is not active. Also, wifi uses more power than mobile data. When your phone is in sleep mode, it will switch to mobile data to conserve battery. If this is not desirable (in other words, ur not a digi subscriber tongue.gif), then a tap of button is all u need to switch off mobile data altogether biggrin.gif

I dunno why but after I watched all the videos about Symbian^3 on N8 and E7.. I fell like... Might say that the UI is still boring.. It's still majority belong to Nokia anyway..
Not like Android.. "OWH! This's HTC! This's Samsung! That's Motorola! That's Acer! What? Dell?" Various of nice UI can be found without sweating your head thinking either "I want this NOKIA or that NOKIA?"
Come on Nokia.. You're a leader before.. And why not just give any more creative designer to design your OS interfaces.. The veteran should do better than the newbie (Android and Apple)..
Just take a look at upcoming Windows Phone 7.. nod.gif nod.gif

you are off topic. anyway, it's top gear season 15 episode 5 if not mistaken. it's the second final episode.

anyway, i think Nokia is putting off symbian 3 and maemo 5 as a testbed where they can get more user feedback for meego.

Nokia symbian might not be the most supreme OS out there right now, but many ppl started off using smartphone because of nokia. To said nokia will be fully abandon will not be true as many ppl still not get used to the new software. Eg android n ios. All i can say is nokia market will still be there even though is getting smaller.

Nevertheless, Nokia is still one of the best (if not "the" best) companies for getting the "basic" right (good reception, build quality, battery life)

It's losing market share because nowadays, people want more than just the basic

Symbian is DEAD, my last symbian is N73, after N73 (which means after year 2006) I abandon not only Symbian but Nokia as well, because no innovative on Nokia at all.

Symbian ^3??? Ha! Ha! It just a brother edition of Symbian S60v5. Nothing special about it except slightly pretty Interface.

Nokia just having a slight improvement on Meego (even thought that device is stupid did almost everythings in landscape mode).

If Nokia want to save itself, Nokia needs puts more on Meego (I forgot what the name it change after the release of N900).

Stop continue developed on dead product "Symbian".
