Just to add on. With the way HTC Sync is set up, if I don't sync my calendar every month there will be voids in my phone calendar, wouldn't it?
*
The idea is - a mobile is a temporary device for you to store new appointments, tasks or contacts as you meet customers.
When you're back in office, it is vital to sync it back into your PC. Not only as a backup but you will be using the PC in office most of the time, right?
Without a sync, how are you going to email (using ur PC) to a new contact or refer to an updated shedule from the PC itself?

It is dangerous to store everything in a mobile or use it as the main device for storing important items without frequent syncing to a PC.
That's why you are complaining about lost calendars entries.

Does MIUI contact can be sync with FB contact? If not, what is the option available for contact photos?

Any know bug u encounter so far?

This ROM comes with A2SD+, support partition ext3?
*
Sorry, I do not sync with FB as I sync with Google contacts. I think I did come across people saying cant sync with FB in XDA.
Syncing with FB has been a bug with some other ROMs too (I read in XDA not from my experience)

Yes, it comes with A2SD+ but somehow mine needs to be reactivated when I flash MIUI.
I think you are familiar with ADB commands right? You need to use the a2sd command to reactivate it.

The same guide (re-activate a2sd+) is in the xda forum which I posted above...dunno which specific page though.

So far no known bugs. I havent actually thorougly tested the rom.
But hey...FM is really working!!! something i missed in OD

Means if I am already on custom Rom, I just the Rom zip file rite? No need go through downgrade of hboot? coz mine on 0.93. And I am on stock 2.2 ota radio, need to flash different radio?
Hehe ask a lot of question.
*
No need downgrade. Juz use the Unrevoked 3 to root.
Mine also 0.93 SLCD set.

no need flash radio if u r already on 2.2.
in fact i am still using my stock 2.2 OTA radio.

Err, I lost my old entries when my pc crashed smile.gif Then later I learned to extract the Outlook data from within the Windows folders and back it up on a non-OS drive. Please don't assume you know how I do my work.

Yes, I do backup my appts to PC, but that's not the point. Every other mobile operating system allows you, the user, to decide how he wants to backup his stuff. Why do you have to be such a fanboy and think everyone should just do what google dictates we should do? What's the point of an "open" platform, when the fact is that google is just trying to increase our dependence on them? Is that so hard for you to understand?
*
you seemed annoyed by my replies so much so that you can even assumed that i am a fanboy of google.
it is very dissapointing 2b accused of something that you're absolutely not. well, why do you have to make such conclusion (and a 100% wrong one too) in the first place also puzzled me. all i wanted to share is my experience with Microsoft Outlook for years and syncing using Symbian, WM and to Android devices. you did not mention ur data lost was caused by pc crashed. Based on ur postings, i assumed you have lost data due to sync problem not a pc crash and that the void in ur calendars r caused by less frequent sync available in Android.

for your info, i had a hard time syncing my Outlook with my desire once I opt for vanilla customs ROMs.
I even have to install 3rd party software to sync my Outlook to Google than from Goolge to my desire
I had a hard time finding those software too. Now, I have to sync from my notebook to Google than back to my phone.
so, why do i need 2b a google fanboy when i am having all these hassle with Google???
Google Android does not even have native direct sync support to Outlook, another negative factor of using Android phones.
If you are on non-sense custom ROMs, you can forget about using HTC Sync. It wouldn't work.
You will be wasting much time finding SYNC software and will be complaining more about Android which I did.
Only one or too 3rd party sync software are good enough to perform perfect sync to google.

Look, I just offered my simple advice: PC/Notebook to store the master copy of ur calendars/contacts/tasks while mobile as a temp device and sync as frequent as possible.

If my advice is of no use to you, then so sorry for wrong advice, & you can juz ignore it.
And if my tone sounds annoying to you, I offer my apology too.

Hey guys, is it necessary to download adobe flash player?
Isn't browser already can play flash without it?
*
Are you in customs ROMs? Some customs ROMs do not have flash player.
Just download from the market.
Original 2.2 HTC OTA has built in flash support already.

would love to try MIUI but...damn the camera and dialer~~ i hope they were from htc.
*
Yupe, I really missed HTC dialer since i opt for vanilla or MIUI roms.
To be able to lookup names or phone numbers at once is really something i missed
and btw, MIUI camera & videos has really loud default sound which you cant even switch off.
only way is to delete the sound files from the system

Thanks dracozz, I'm on miui rom now. Really nice interface although iphonish.  But I feel it more responsive than auraxt. Typing a bit lag thou. Will use it for a few days to get use to the interface hehe
*
No problem. yupe, definitely iphonish, even some icons are similar as iphone. even folder widgets r iphone feature.
anyway i really don't mind they port all good features from everywhere.
so far, I am using the original MIUI keyboard as i need chinese support which seems fine to me.

EpsilonStar, do you find it hard to answer calls by swiping downwards?
It's really quite hard to swipe down. Always need to swipe a few times to answer a call.
Sense also swipe down but definitely easier to swipe.

Er i just flashed it last nite so still have not really received any call...
1 thing i dun really like is they put all the apps on screen. And miss many HTC Sense features and apps and widget...
Yeah iphonish, but it looks nice. It makes the screen looks more vibrant and colorful. Now i understand why those screen on mac(ipad, macbook) looks so pleasing and sharp compare to others. Probably 40% is due to the design and color used in their UI...
*
answering calls is OK after i clean my desire. maybe dirty sticky patches on my lower desire screen.

ya, there is no app drawer which i would prefer but they compensate it with great customization interface. i like the way they allow us to drag icons into small preview screens at the bottom is a great feature.

there is 2 ver. of Amon Ra. 1 is with Alt keys and another 1 is without Alt keys, which 1 shall i download?
*
I used AmonRa a couple of months back. Then, the version was 1.7.0.1 R5 for SLCD since mine is SLCD.
This special SLCD image was attached in one of the posts in XDA AmonRa thread (Desire Android Development)

So, is ur Desire SLCD or AMOLED? If urs is SLCD, take note of this SLCD version.
Perhaps now there is a newer AmonRa version which supports both SLCD and AMOLED.
Do update us on the version you will use.

Yes, you can.
Just use the custom recovery option in unrevoked
make sure you load AmonRa before you plug in ur Desire

may i know what is radio for?is it for gsm,3g,hsdpa?do i really need to install new radio when i flashing custom rom?
*
yes, it's also needed for android system functionalities. specific ROM works best (or as suggested) on specific radio versions.

not necessary if your current Desire is already at version 2.2.
Some ROMs suggest the same radio that comes with 2.2 OTA (32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2)
Anyway, do read the suggested radio when you flash a ROM.

As for me, I've never switch the radio version as I found it to be good.

My Desire on Amoled, so which ver shall i use?
*
Then i guess just download the latest version from XDA Desire Android Development.
Only those with SLCD like myself has to be extra careful when choosing recovery images.

guys, between amon ra and clockmod revocery, which is better?
currently using clockmod
*
most distinct feature of both:

AmenRa supports unlimited size of sd-ext partitioning. Clockwork only 512MB (and it is sufficient for most users)
Clockwork supports ROM Manager which is handy when comes to flashing ROMs.

This is a well known problem of htc....
It is not a real multitouch due to the touch panel it applied.....
There is some software or kernel outside that reduce the flipping problem for certain htc phones with same problem...
unfortunately it doesn't work on desire yet, not sure why...

Yupe, read about this sometime ago. Initially was shocked by the discovery but then it has never actually bothered me. Most games still function as per normal unless those complex games which need both touches to cross axis

dracoz,
so i assume you are using amon ra right?and you on desire right?
can you advise which version do i need to download?
*
No, I am using ClockWorkMod now.
I used AmonRa initially to create a larger ext partition

try search XDA forum in Desire Android Development for AmonRa recovery
Download from there. As mentioned in my previous post, if the version is still 1.7.0.1 R5 and ur Desire is SLCD, i would suggest u use the SLCD AmonRa image which is available in one of the posts in AmonRa thread.

As suggested, use no more than 1GB ext partition.

Hi guys, my desire desparately needs a battery calibration now. Fully charged & it'll still immediately drop to 95% when I disconnect from charger.
Follow this GUIDE step-by-step, problem still persists.

I did read before in XDA on how to successfully calibrate battery but can't search the thread anymore.

Greatly appreciate if someone who has successfully calibrated the battery to post a link here. Thanks!

how long you plug in the charger before you remove it?
means did you plug in before sleep then morning unplug it?
*
whole nite (about 8 hrs) using the ac adapter.
wipe battery stats immediately after that but not successful still.
i followed the villianrom guide exactly but still 95% when disconnect from charger.

hv u calibrated before, a link will be greatly appreciated

How long you leave your phone to charge? Charge with open?
Not sure it is true or not but i think the phone will cut off the charging once it reach 100%....
If i disconnect the battery around 10 minutes after it full, normally it can remains at 100% for quite long time....
But if i leave it whole night charging with phone on, then it will drop to 98% pretty fast in the morning(sometimes just a few minutes)...
If i charge the phone in off condition, this wont happen....
If i'm using my phone (game or call) during charging end near 98% or 99%, once i unplug when it full, it will drop to around 97% or 96% very fast (less than a minutes sometimes)...
*
I charged with the phone powered off (for ~ 8 hours), as adviced. disconnect from ac charger this morning. power on, then i saw the dreaded 95%.
actually i m having this issue a week back. since it has now dropped to 95%, i guess following the villianrom guide will solve it but not in my case.

i read before that Wipe battery stats should be immediately after a full charge right?

dracoz,
my advise as below..
1. charge more than 5 hours - while phone is on
2. shut down phone - charge bout 1 hour
3. on back and let it stay for a while let say 2-3 minutes
4. then shut down again - charge bout 1 hour
5. on back the set and use as normal..

i try this 2 times to make it happen.
*
thanks hazril & tyja for your links and steps.
i've juz found a GUIDE in XDA Desire General threads. all the while i was searching Desire Android Development.

i compared both ur recommendations, it's more a less the same.

and i don't even i to wipe stats, my battery is now 100%...it's been a while since i last see 100%

Performance wise so far so good (Just installed it yesterday), apart from missing some HTC (Especially the HTC Dialer) and Sense apps which I have used to so much before moved to MIUI ROM. Nevertheless, it is a nice ROM and a totally difference UI experience if you are comparing to Sense based ROM.

The MIUI ROM comes with A2SD+ but somehow it requires additional procedures to activate it. Just download emulator from Market and follow the instructions as per given, key in the few lines of command and the next reboot the ROM will have its A2SD+ activated. You can ignore this part if you dont wanna use A2SD+ feature.
*
Is there still a lag with Folder widget in this version?
I am on MIUI 9.30 for quite sometime now & laggy folder widget might be my only grouse.
I will skip this 10.15 and wait for the next release.

fyi, this ROM is even faster with cache2sd disabled but at the expense of internal memory.
