![]() it looks huge, but it's not actually. quite a nice size, although i know there is a smaller (standard) size for soft shutters. Oh yeah, for the hood or any 49mm hood like the X100 ones, the correct snap lens cap size is 58mm. |

if they can fix only one thing about the camera in the upcoming firmware, i want it to be the manual focusing system. if they can fix that, i'm gonna be soooo happy
if they wanna add one feature, that would be peaking/zebra meter! adding this alone would change this prosumer cam into a pro cam, IMO something like this ![]() does anybody know of a canon/nikon camera that has this? or all their dslr cams have this ah? i read in an x100 forum that one of the things that fuji is looking at in the new firmware is the peaking function. might be just rumours though, but would be awesome if fuji actually responds to their hardcore/niche/cult base if they did, much like ricoh and the hardcore GR userbase.
the peaking function shows the focused area. something like in the new NEX-C3 (and possibly in my NEX-3 in the upcoming firmware). See video, around the 2:20 mark before peaking ![]() after peaking ![]() better manual control + peaking = rangerfinder meter = x100 as a modern rangefinder zebra however i believe is in all pro camcorders (and now in prosumer camcorders as well) that shows overexposed area by showing you a black-white stripe pattern. don't think this feature is common/available in digital cameras though, but it'll be good if they have it. broadcast tv's absolutely hate overexposed/pure white areas in your vids, and can reject your tape/video if you put one (it messes up the broadcast signals basically). ![]() ![]() again, i don't know if any dslrs have this feature, as it's a common thing in videoland. but would be nice This post has been edited by C-Fu: Jun 14 2011, 04:53 PM |

oh, like the ones by gariz.
![]() I bought 1 set (black and white) at YL for RM30+. thinking of putting it to my NEX. QUOTE(xLegato @ Jun 14 2011, 05:53 PM) I'll try to go to some of those places. I'm currently in the east and go to the city on most days, but it's quite a long journey. Fortitude Valley too, and I agree - it's awesome. Fortitude Valley during Sunday morning would be a really nice place to shoot, during the tai-chi apeks punya training.Or listening to the musics on Sunday mornings while eating the fresh Hungarian bread Langosh (if the big guy's still there, tell him that his regular Malaysian customer sends his regards Southbank market is good as well. These are perfect locations for street photography IMO. Share some pics if you can, damn I miss Brissy mate! Best times of my life Added on June 16, 2011, 1:03 pm ![]() received on my desk this morning. A 52mm-49mm step down ring. the 52-49 has grooves all the way at the inside, so it fits the 49mm groove of the X100 perfectly (but terbalik la, since the X100 has a reversed groove). with this setup, you can create a makeshift hood for the X100, similar to the original one but a lot cheaper. X100>52-49mm (reverse) > square hood > filter inside hood. stepdown ring = US$2.50 hood = US$1 (similar to X100's round hood, but black. local brand is octopus) total = US$3.50 (shipping is free) / RM11 X100 hood+ adapter = RM200 (unfortunately I don't have the black hood with me, my bini took it together with the NEX picture is X100>52-49mm>49-52mm> 49mm filter>hood adapter>hood. just for fun and apparently the 52-49mm stepdown ring accepts 52mm filters and 49mm filters as well (at the 49mm thread side). oh and look look! finally the lens bracelet is useful after all ![]() Makes the focus ring size bigger and nicer to hold I got it here http://www.facebook.com/ApertureBay oh oh oh ![]() This post has been edited by C-Fu: Jun 16 2011, 02:29 PM |

I'm gonna compile every kind of customisation that is possible later, but since you asked.....
![]() X100>52-49 stepdown ring>49mm flter>Snap on JJC square lens hood, 49mm ![]() X100> X100 ring adapter > Voigtlander hood ![]() X100 > Vivitar vintage rubber hood 49mm, reverse > filter as you can see, the hood can only be mounted if terbalik. So you take out the rubber from the metal ring (there's a slight gum that attaches the hood to the metal ring) and put the rubber the other way. Result: ![]() ![]() With all the customisation that you can do with the X100 with aftermarket parts that I have tried, I can safely say that while there are tons of options available, and a lot cheaper too, the official X100 adapter (and hood) is by far the best looking one, and worth the premium price. the real (not realistic, different!) magnesium finishing, quality, build... I can safely say that no aftermarket parts are of the same quality as the fuji one. QUOTE ur creation made x100 look like real leica with long zoom. I tried... but for some reason....your last pix, r u serious it can hook up DSLR lens? ![]() Cannot fit This post has been edited by C-Fu: Jun 20 2011, 03:55 PM |

yeah. Overall a very nice bugfix update. a few things are faster as well, like AF, starting up, etc.
but to me, those are negligible, since those "issues" are nonsense for me to begin with. i believe that after a few more bugfixes, then we're gonna start seeing Fuji addressing the usability issues. like the macro button, for instance. no need menu ler only then will they start adding pro/high-end features, like peaking, zebra, etc. by that time prolly we can start seeing X200 edi but overall i'm quite happy with the fact that fuji is listening to users. although to my knowledge, they are only addressing dpreview's concerns, not users... since dpreview's bug list are the most comprehensive that's available anywhere. still good, but listening to normal users, not objective, quantitative review sites would be better, IMO. still, i'm not complaining This post has been edited by C-Fu: Jun 28 2011, 02:39 AM |

well that would be the next logical step after X100, IMO
unless Fuji makes a proper, perfect revision of X100 next year This post has been edited by C-Fu: Jun 29 2011, 08:50 PM |
