He's playing well. It's not like he fecks up a lot. He's been involved and doesn't mess a lot. Bizarre if you think he's playing like shit.

And Evans has played well. It's easy to focus on him since he's the 'scapegoat' right now. The whole defence have been scrambling away trying to thwart Bolton's physical plays.

Never mind the fact that Welbeck played more times than Macheda when they were both at the club at the same time.
It could just mean that for Welbeck's sake, he's better off going somewhere where he gets regular playing time, while with with Macheda, we would want to develop him in house.

Macheda! Hope he doesn't play out wide. Been really impressed with him. Cool head, good control and never rush things with his passing etc.

Defence look normal. Might be the time to give Evra a rest or that SAF feels he should be bench for this one because of form or something. Midfield seems good with only Ando who seems 'not normal' there. Strikers..well the fact that Berbatov and Rooney is not on this one explains a lot. Owen/Hernandez - Macheda seems ok although Macheda might play wide for this one unless one of Ando/Fletch plays outwide instead.

On redcafe they said Carrick and Rio faced a late fitness test. Guess he didn't get through that, but he should be fine for the next game.

Cattermole-Henderson won't be fun to play against. They will be at us all game long.

We've not done too badly comparing to seasons past, although my 'table' is slightly flawed since teams performance level vary each season so the results might not show the true strength of each team.


Anybody have some free time to do our first 7 games of each season(4-5 seasons)? the past few seasons..


Our performances haven't really been great, but looking at those, it's not too bad. Differences of 5 points or so. You win some, you lose some. The hard thing for us is catching Chelsea up. With the form they're in, they won't stop much for us to catch up. Our performances will definitely improve. We can and should play a lot better that what we've shown so far.

Hopefully with Rio back it will calm things down at the back and we can build from there. I'd like to see Carrick-Scholes again. Need a solid base, and they could provide it, unless Carrick is still in his shell.

Added on October 4, 2010, 8:25 pmAnd he plays out wide(not like a winger, more like a roaming AM who starts out wide) for Spurs. And we have the likes of Nani, Valencia, Park, Giggs, Cleverley, Obertan out wide. We will always play with two strikers. So the position left to play is in the middle. Nobody will use him in the middle when they play 442(which we do play a lot of the time). And thus that's one of the reason why we never bought any of his kind/type(Sneidjer is another one) unless they're comfortable playing there(middle of 442). Ando, forward/attacking midfielder before he joins us and now he plays more like a deep lying midfielder, battling for the ball and spraying passes from deep ala Carrick/Scholes/Fletcher.

He could really be useful for us in a 433/4231 setup though since we don't really have an option that could wow us from there right now. But then would he really be happy not being the absolute first choice since we play more than half our games with 442.

Yeah it's our attacking players(wingers, strikers) who slice open and do the damage while our midfielders play the supporting cast usually supplying them with the ammo and cover to to them from the outside. Ando could be the one to change that, but it may take a while. Gibson is another although right now all he does is shoot.

With Keane still there at the time where he still have a lot of influence in our play, and Scholes, plus us being new to the European way of playing(slow tempo, 451/433) meant we didn't utilise Veron properly. If Veron had come a bit later, then we might have. We played him out wide, in an AM position.. didn't suit him at all. He's like Carrick/Alonso type. Deep lying playmaker, but our team wasn't ready for that kind of guy maybe especially since he need someone next to him to do the defensive work.

We certainly could.We just need to sort out how we defend as a team. Liverpool goals came from their wingers coming into the middle from wide and having open space to pass/whatever which resulted in them getting a penalty and freekick and scoring from them.

We were never really into signing him right? With Berba we told him to wait for a season, but he had already agreed to sign for Spurs that that time I think. And there was rumours we were in for him throughout his time at Spurs with Levy threatening to report us for 'tapping' him up.
