Samsung Galaxy Tab Is Here, Exclusive To Maxis

Made it first appearance at IFA 2010 in Berlin last month, the Samsung Galaxty Tab has (finally) reached our shores last Friday. Malaysia is the first country in South East Asia to receive the 7-inch tablet and it is now available for local consumers from today onwards at selected Maxis Centres - KLCC, Pavilion KL, Sunway Pyramid and Taman Tun Dr. Ismail – while the rest of the Maxis outlet and selected Maxis Exclusive Partners will begin to sell it from 29 October.

Before we dive in into its pricing, let’s take a fast look at its general technical specs. Powered by a 1.0GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor with PowerVR SGX540 as its graphic processor, it is equipped with 512MB worth of memory together with 16GB of internal disk space that can be expanded through its microSD slot that is able to support up to 32GB. Sporting Android 2.2 as its operating right out of the box, the 380g 7-inch tablet also comes with two cameras - 3-megapixel with Auto-Focus and LED Flash on the back and also, 1.3-megapixels on the front for video telephony.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab also supports 2.5G and 3G connectivity up to HSDPA 7.2MBps connection, together with WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP. If it’s not clear enough, yes, users can make phone and video calls with the tablet through wired or Bluetooth headsets. Samsung claimed that the tablet’s 4,000mAh Li-pol battery has a talk time rating of 1,000 minutes and a standby time of 1,500 hours; both with 3G connection turned on.

With that, we are now ready for the most important detail – the price. As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy Tab will be available EXCLUSIVELY at Maxis Stores with a price tag of RM 2,599. A little bit hefty there, to be honest but for users that would like to have a data plan to go with the device, they are able to obtain it for much more cheaper at RM 1,749 on 24-months contract and RM 1,849 on 12-months contract.

for those bought earlier should able to get rebate later
maybe thats why maxis is not selling "officially" yet till 29 OCT

Or maybe they're paying the price for getting the Tab a few days earlier? 

All you have to do is purchase the 3G Camera for only RM999 and subscribe for another Postpaid Supplementary line of only RM10 for the camera and you're ready to go.

the 3G cam seems not cheap if to buy separately
i wonder what price maxis could sell the tab if maxis not give/trade back the cam..
