is it adviseable to use the Tab as a hp??will it cause any problem??

thanks

It is based on oneself.

If OK to carry a small sling bag / waist bag all the time then it is advisable. Otherwise if you have a big pants pocket and don't mind the discomfort then it is alright also. The phone is a bit hassle during driving since it is too big, there aren't many place you can put it unless you have a holder.

Another thing is that SGT too big for 1 hand to type SMS/Email, it is too slow and often make mistakes. Leather case is a hassle if SGT is a phone. You can't type SMS properly since you need to open the leather case and fold it over to use with 2 hands thus thicken the hold. Email is same issue. If using the SGT on horizontal / landscape, you can't see original message (Android is not ready for tablet doh.gif ) except for keyboard and texts you typing. I prefer typing in portrait mode.

Be warned, if you use it for quite sometime. You will feel 3.5~4.3" LCD HP is too small !!... and cannot satisfy you anymore. For me it is very hard to go back and my next phone has to be 7" again... sweat.gif

Anyway, to me the benefit of having a single device defeat all the hassle. I seldom use my laptop nowadays, except during office hours. Most of my internet related stuff I can do with SGT including work related stuff as well. Entertainment is superb on SGT as LCD and speakers are excellent quality thumbup.gif .

When using Dolphin HD to reply lowyat.net forum message, often hang and force close. It hang on stock browser as well.
So now use Opera, very stable. I think it is browser webkit engine problem, since both using same engine. Anyone having same experience?

Tried. Don't like it, goes back to Opera and Dolphin. I remember it is slower than Opera and memory usage is bigger. So uninstall...

Think someone mentioned same problem with browsing and force closing, earlier.

Maybe lowyat has too many flash and ads ... you experience the problem for mobile version or pc version lowyat?

Added on December 15, 2010, 4:43 pmAlso there are 2 kinds of opera in market . Which one you use ... opera mobile or opera mini?
*
Using opera mobile. Although beta, it very stable.

Download Gingerbread Market APK

You can use SGT browser to install.

I assume you refer to rooted devices which can access other markets, in order to use this apk
My device is rooted but I think installing this APK doesn't need rooting.

When using dolphin on lowyat forum pages, got kick out problem?

Only when you trying to reply messages. There is some elements in the page which cause the engine to fail, the stock browser behave the same way. Any other pages is working fine.

Yeah, haven't update the firmware. Don't have any issue with the current firmware so not bother to update. May be will try it out and report back.

Last night Google release Google Map 5.0 rclxm9.gif on Market... So guys open the Market to get this update. This includes offline map supports, pinch / rotate, and compass supports. Google Map on 7" screen looks damn good drool.gif .

you install edi? where to get offline maps for msia?
*
Oops... Shouldn't have said "offline map" may be change "map caching for offline viewing". The app will cache the map you viewed. If you planning to go somewhere, you can cache it first. E.g. if you going to Taipei, you can cache it. The satellite image is cached as well.

then just same as brut map  doh.gif

For me the new Google Map is sufficient for my usage and I don't need whole Malaysia map in the SGT. I had it on my old WinMo / Symbian phones and hardly use. I cache the whole KL map ready in about 15mins browsing. My current cache is only 12MB, so even when driving and need a new place map I can download via 3G as the map size is very small and can reuse again.

Is it just Sketchbook? i downloaded Sketchbook Mobile Express...really good...but not full screen sad.gif

Hmmm... Mine is full screen. Have activated the full screen hack using Spare Part? If not look for "Spare Part for Galaxy Tab" in google search. It is a youtube video.

Btw it is so good, I bought the full version @ USD0.99. It allows you to change the brush size and texture.

does the galaxy tab comparable to be used as a sub for mobile phones?

does it able to perform as good as netbook? (document processing such as word powerpoint pdf)

still considering to buy sgt, not sure if worth the money.
havent tried it hands on but from what ive heard its quite thick and heavy is it?

where am i able to touch this beauty? im in kl area btw

About as mobile phone usage, there are many comments available. Just look thru those who commented.

I think to sum up SGT, it is perfect companion when used as a "viewing/reading" device.
Anything to do editing will be painful but simple editing e.g. email is alright. Netbook will good for editing.

If your time mostly spend on reading then it is perfect device.
Since it is small you can use it on couch/bed/seat do your reading/surfing nets.
To describe the weight, I can hold it while lying on the bed/couch to reading books/magazine.
It is easy to carry around that netbook because of the weight and size.

You have to try it to see if you love it. I think all the big Maxis Center has the demo unit.
