if this is true...gonna sell my old phone and get this one instead
*
ppl said its not psp2, just pspgo+phone combined.(my theory still stands...lol...psp2 will be a beast)
cos Kaz Hirai already said they wont abandon physical media, and this one looks like it doesnt have umd drive from the specs.

Im also thinking getting it too...haha
my phone almost 5 years old.

and one more thing...keep in mind, no more psp games will be developed after this, sony will stop selling psp1 sdk at mid november

but dont fret, maybe the new sdk will force developers to develop games that are both compatible with psp and psp2. hmm.gif
I also dont know what sony is thinking, its a mess rclxub.gif

We've also learned that the PSP2 will be a much more powerful gaming device with twice the RAM of the Xbox 360.

While we don't yet know all of the portable's system specifications, we have been told that the PSP2 will feature 1 GB of RAM. That's compared to the 64 MB of RAM the PSPgo and PSP 3000 have. Both of those portables use a MIPS R4000 CPU clocked at up to 333 MHz. By comparison the Xbox 360 has 512 MB of RAM and runs a 3.2 GHZ CPU.

Theres also a little bit more on pspgen, the news are the same,
but it says codename "Veta" would be release(yup, release, not announce) at the end of 2011, which could be psp2.

1GB of ram drool.gif
graphic if not greater, should be on par with xbox and ps3. rclxms.gif
and thats just the beast to rival Ipad, cos you cant beat Ipad with same specs, ppl would pick Ipad

hope next year can play id's Rage on psp2 ...haha

The one by SE is NOT PSP2. It's just a phone that play games. Possibly PlayStation branded. But that's another device altogether so I'll leave it at that.

As for PSP2, developer already have seen it. News I read from Kotaku says the screen will be in HD (HD or FullHD is unknown) and due to higher resolution, it will also be slightly larger hence resulting a slightly larger device. There will also be something like a touchpad at the back of the device. Sony themselves does not dictate what it's for. It's up for developers to decide.

And yes, there is a second analog stick.

Here's an article from Kotaku.

QUOTE
Around the time of the Tokyo Game Show, Sony held a private meeting at its offices in Tokyo's Aoyama. The purpose was to show off the PSP2.

Several sources have confirmed to Kotaku that the PSP2 does have a previously rumored touch panel on the back of the hardware. The touch panel was described as looking like a big mouse trackpad. When Sony showed the PSP2, it did not provide concrete details regarding how the trackpad will be implemented in games and instead is leaving that to the discretion of game developers.

Sources also confirm to Kotaku that the handheld will have dual analog sticks.
Sony's game controllers traditionally have dual analog sticks, but the current PSP model does not. Dual analog sticks would bring the PSP controls more in line with what gamers experience on Sony's home consoles.

The screen itself is not only sharper than the current PSP's, but about an inch larger. The larger screen means that the PSP2 will be larger as well. In the private meetings, Sony is touting the screen as "HD".

A larger PSP should not be that big of an issue for Sony — especially in a mobile environment with large tablets like the iPad. It also shows that Sony realizes it is no longer simply competing with Nintendo, but also Apple.

It is unclear whether this is the same handheld described by the Wall Street Journal. According to the paper, Sony is working on a device that mixes a game player, an e-book reader and a netbook computer.

In late September, there were also reports that the PSP2 hardware was in the hands of "numerous" developers.

Currently, the PSP2's hardware is not finalized, and Sony is having problems balancing battery, power and heat. There are apparently overheating issues, but Sony is, of course, aiming to have those issues corrected by the time the hardware is publicly shown.

Sony set the PSP2's goals (what Sony wants it to do), but is still tinkering with the portable's innards. The PSP2's tech specs are expected to change, meaning that things like chip size and processor size are variable. What's more, the hardware Sony showed was "temp hardware", so the final design is expected to change.

Apparently, Sony has privately shown two versions of the new PSP. One version slides open like the PSPgo, and another version is similar in shape to the regular PSP. These are prototypes, because Sony has yet to finalize the PSP2 hardware design.

Sources tell Kotaku that the PSP2's release window is fall 2011. Sony is not yet talking openly about the PSP2.

Sony did not offer a comment in time for publication.

Hope Sony can decide the PSP2 is a gaming device first, and the rest later. Don't neglect the gaming aspect for other functions like it happened to PSP and PS3.

i think if they running on tegra 2 it will be cool... because i saw the CES... phone running on nvidia tegra the game really got high quality graphic, can cross platform from pc to ps3..no ipad though.. well, for the phone la.. it save energy, and wun overheat... its a piece of great technology..If this is the case I think we do not need to doubt about getting a psp2... but, i sure will miss UMD disk.. sigh.. too bad can't play my UMD games on higher quality console..

I guess we have to wait for E3 or sony's own conference..

I thought PSP2 and PSP phone were two different things. Like what Nokia did, 1st it was N-gage by them, then the newer generation phones were capable of playing N-gage games as well when they stopped the production of N-gage. They'd make more money by this way, don't you think? A phone with with older PSP-gaming capable and a newer handheld gaming device, PSP2?

Let's just hope Sony don't f88k up with this one. biggrin.gif

Yukan Fuji Newspaper on PSP2
QUOTE
Yukan Fuji Newspaper reported that Sony will host the PlayStation Meeting 2011 on January 27 in Tokyo, to unveil full details on PSP2 and PSP Phone, it is also responsible to contain the momentum of its rival - the Nintendo 3DS. The previous PlayStation Meetings were used to announce the PSP in 2004 and PlayStation 3 in 2005.

Analysts from the leading investment firm TIW in Tokyo said that PSP2 is Sony's best way to confront to Nintendo 3DS. Although the PSP2 does not have stereoscopic 3D function, but its network capabilities is greatly enhanced and the graphics will be comparable with PS3. December 2011 will likely be the launch date. Several software developer have also confirmed they have received PSP2 specs and development kits last year.

PSP Phone's real purpose will be expanding market share, as the consumption in the current gaming market is relatively weak, and the smart phone gaming market is on the raise. This is a good opportunity to gain new market share from high-end smart phone market.
