Introduction

DACport is a reference-quality, stereo 24-bit / 96kHz Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) that sounds so good that it reveals the subtlest detail in your music. Featuring CEntrance's proprietary AdaptiWaveâ„¢ 24-bit USB audio technology, JitterGuardâ„¢ clock management system, and an audiophile headphone amplifier, DACport redefines the portable USB DAC.

While searching for a dac, I came across this article which makes me lusting after it:

So that's it, my review for the DACport. Keep in mind this is my own preferences and may differ from person to person plus I only compared it with my own laptop dac, some link below shows how people compare it with other DAC. The cons for this DAC are:

a) It gets warm after a while because of its Class A amp. Although not as hot as a kettle but you dont want to put it on your lap biggrin.gif (can use the belt utility if you want to make it portable which also looks like you are carrying a light saber biggrin.gif.)

b) The usb is quite long for me but maybe because this is not the default USB cable. May be useful for desktop user but not laptop user.

Im not sure whether its my lappy or wat else but although it was supposed to be able to play without driver, I can only make it as the default dac for my laptop by installing the downloaded driver, or else has to do it manually.

"I couldn't completely dismantle the DACport, to identify the DAC and the other chips used, but I could see that the D/A and analog circuits are carried on a separate printed circuit board from the USB and supply circuitry, to reduce noise contamination. "

John Atkinson, Stereophole June 2010

If sifu like this cant opened it, what else someone with zero knowledge like me can do? tongue.gif

something to ask, can it control the volume in the windows? Which PCM270X cant to do so.
*
not sure if i understand u right hmm.gif do u mean:

a) when u plug it in, it will take over the windows volume? if it is then yes, after installing the driver, the volume get to max automatically although u can still use the slide in windows to control it.

b) when u plug it in, the volume slide bar become unusable? maybe its my laptop but no, you can still use the volume slide bar

a) would be my question, the volume is max although u are able to slide the volume up and down? Or it's controllable?

Since PCM270X can't do so, so i am quite interested to know more about tas1020b tongue.gif
*
Its controllable, both from the dacport and also from windows
