Hey guys, anyone ever used the Minolta 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 lens? Would it make a better walkabout lens than my 18-55 kit lens?

More importantly, is the image quality better than the 18-55?

guys, will like to seeks ur opinion on this. i am looking to purchase a new lens. but duno which one to choose. hope you guys can give me some advice.

1) Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR DI-II LD Aspherical (IF) AF Zoom Lens with Macro
2) Tamron AF 55-200mm f/4-5.6 Di-II LD Autofocus Zoom Normal-Telephoto Lens
3) Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Telephoto Autofocus Lens

i am looking at no1 option also because its like all in one lens and i not need change lens. but now i am confused abt those 3. which one will give better used and quality photos and faster focus speed? tamron compare to sony's own lens, the AF speed and photos quality very much different? would like to seeks all shifu's advice! thanks!

in this case, i would recommend the almost similar price panasonic FH1

i mean if among that three, which one will produce better photos shooting experience..and also then compare with sony brand of same type of lens, issit very much different as well? cos sony also got produce 50-200 and 70-300 lens..but price more expensive lor~tats why i wan to know sony and tamron give very much different of quality and af speed or etc?

Hi..i am looking for new dslr..sony in my first choice follows by canon....I have try out Sony A33 at Sony style, it seems to be slow in process time....not suitable for me to take my kid photos....I guess A55 will be the same.

Can any expert here suggest for me from these 3 models (all expected to be out later these months):
1. Sony A580
2. Canon 60D
3. Sony A55

When i try the A33, when you take a short, the camera will freeze a while before you can take another photo. Not like canon 550D or sony A550 which can take photo immmediately...shutter speed is ok....i believe is the internal process time.

hmm!! i think i got ur meaning.. so like wan quick and fast capture, 18-250 is convenient.. but 55-200 is better in IQ .. so depend on situation and suit ur need..then really hard to choose..

zstan : It's not all that hard to change lenses. Just that sometimes, the moment will be lost by the time you get your lenses changed.

When I had only one body and I'm shooting a wedding. The 18250 stays on my cam. I'm not taking it off once the ceremony starts. If you miss the groom kissing the bride on that day there will be no way to get it back and I for sure DO NOT want to be explaining to the couple that I missed the shot because I was changing lenses!

are you sure you can change lenses faster than the 18250 can AF?

well obviously new models equate to newer technology hence better features (not ALWAYS the case).
and new DSLR users dont usually want a dinosaur DSLR.

haha...not to worry...this is cyber world....free to say anything.....anyway...Mike shashimi do have a point...every new user will want the latest and not all new dslr is better.....everybody should know right....but i will welcome any critic on these 3 models...at least give me some point so i won't make a mistake when i made my decision in next few months....

haha...well everybody love dinosaur...i have a dinosaur (minolta 7xi-film slr) sitting in the store room..not sure what to do with it....so far all have the latest technology and their own special features.... but A55 dslt is still very new technology..don't think sony has perfect it....probably when A77 is out then the dslt will be mature....i still like canon 60D but the moie format is in .mov format...i need the .mp4 format...so have to wait for A580 to compare....

no la...i want a dslr with movie.. to take photo and movie of my kid....so she will know how she was when she grown up in the future.....2 in 1 ma.....and seems like sony also has no choice to follow canon and nikon to include movie function...i guess all future dslr will have movie function.

Mikeshashimi: I was very happy when sony announce A33 and A55 and even more trill when Dpreview rated A55 a 76. But after that more reviews came out with more bad news....If take continuous frame, A55 will timeout for a long time before it can use again...then movie can only take 6 min or 9min with IS off before overheated. It seems that Dpreview miss quite a lot of problem of A55.....but sony did mentioned in photokina 2010 that A77 will be much improved but will be out only within a year.....so kstan has to wait for her replacement of A700 for another year...haha. I actually waiting for A700 replacement but I quess waitng for another year will be too long for me....sony is too slow ...

sorry ..max video recording is 13 min at temperature 30 degree C, 29 min if 20 degree C.

canon 60D is 29 min.

sorry dear...malaysian weather is around 30 degree....so we will face higher chance of getting overheated....worst the test carried out by some review, after overheated....it will off for 5min....and if retake video ...it will last only 3min before overheated again...

for canon...i read one review..not sure which one..did mentioned it.....have to find that article again..haha
