Hello guys and girls.

I'm Mamat from Langkawi, originally from Sungai Petani, Kedah. So happy to be here. I am amazed by your fish list.

Just dropped by to share with the members of this forum my fish list.

1. Elephantnose
2. Double trunk Elephantnose
3. BGK
4. African Lungfish
5. A tank full of loaches + Sewellia lineolata in a stream set up
6. Alligator Gar (3', 2' & 9")

I have 8 tanks (1-4' + 1 5x5' fiber tank) and I'm living in a studio apartment. Alone! wink.gif

I am thinking about buying some Mormyrus sp (freshwater dolphinfish, 6-7 inches, RM150) BUT sadly the lfs mixed them with some giant chained loach and the loaches have whitespots.

I am also looking (hard) for Aba Aba knifefish. Got ah?

Good to be here.

Warm regards from Langkawi.

Hey, photos please! smile.gif

And I saw the mini dolphins at the Shah Alam Aquarium Shop a few months back. There were hundreds of them, about 3cm for Rm9. They had too many in a tank.
I have aba-abas but I don't wanna sell them. Try asking Akidos. smile.gif

Hi beer8bottles.

I saw them too in CTY (Penang, same size, same price tag). Too bad I flew in from Langkawi. Cannot carry pets on board air asia lo... Then last month I went back... Habis liao... sad.gif Now Langkawi got 2 pcs (6-7" RM150 each).

As I said earlier, I went there yesterday to buy, but the kedai added half a dozen of Botia sp with whitespot to the same aquarium, don't want to introduce the sick fish to my tank.

What is the price range for Aba Aba? I saw them many years ago selling for RM80 (in the 90s) at about 1'. Hope Akidos still have some available for me.

Are they hard to care for?

BTW, some pix... smile.gif

Yeah, they are like sharks. I checked online that they need a round aquarium to stop them from bumping into the glass and hurting their snouts. Also they are filter feeders (one of the reasons I didn't want to buy them). What did you feed them?
*

fed them frozen blood worm + micro pellet... easy to feed. i kept them from bumping the sides of the aquarium by putting partition turning the aquarium into a square + placing the pump so the water pusing around the aquarium... problem solved... but when xde elektrik kerap2... semua mati...

oh my..poor big fella in a such small home..
Dear Mamat_Lisham,
Please give your lungfish a bigger more comfortable home..
You're torturing him/her rite now with that small tank..
i'm trying to be as polite as i can
Thanks
*
worry not hulahup. The old tank was 1'x1'x4' which is quite big for a 12" lungfish... the partition was there for me to clean around the tank (+ i push the partition to the other end to protect the lungfish from biting at the pump cable). Now it's at 18" and happily living in a standard 4' tank.

Added on April 18, 2011, 11:15 amand the water level is at 1/3 of the full capacity. kesian lungfish strunling to get air.

Nice one you got there.  thumbup.gif
Yeah, the small ones are very fragile. Sensitive to water change. I got a few at 15cm last time, half of them died, the rest managed to survive and grow (really fast). From there, there is no stopping them.

One of my 2 footer jumped out of the tank the other day, about 2 in the morning. It was half dry when I found it but gasping for air. I dumped it back into the tank and went back to sleep. I thought it'd be dead when I'd wake up, but it was alive. Everything is okay now. Damn hardy fish. Need to get a bigger tank. 3ft doesn't seem enough anymore.
*
thanks! anyway... 1 question. how la u can go back to sleep after finding your 2 footer + putting it back in your aquarium?

Mine is swimming happily and yesterday i had 24 ekor gold fish in its tank and watched it work until in the morning i got 24 gold fish (kepala only) in its tank. When first introduced to the tank it can go easily into the tube... By morning and after 24 gold fish, the tummy a bit sangkut d while entering... told this to GG Ming and he LOLed me.

I'm keeping it in a 4' tank. seems like a waste of space but after moving my 3' gator gar from a 4' tank, I think moving a big fish is no fun and the sedative for the fish smells bad... so no moving until betul2 kena move la...

Any special care that u can share will be very helpful...

Cheers
