No, I think what you say is the yellow tail or green arowana, what I mention is spotted arowana from Australia, did the shop you mention name/ label it as spotted arowana? As I know, the spotted arowana with the head shape a bit difference than normal arowana.

Bro are you talking about this aro?

Do you know which farm and where can i get? Dunno why all of a sudden really interested in the spoonbill.  tongue.gif
Small spotted arowana as in yellowtail/green? Ive seen one in Sg Buloh, at the nursery area near Kota Dsara exit, and one at D'Strand Kota Dsara, Sunway Giza there. And two months ago at a LFS otw to U8 Mall at Bkt Jelutong. Dunno if its still there.

I am nt sure which LFS is selling. But at the moment the farm is not supplying babies to any LFS yet. Only Juv or sub adult available.

*
No offence...but i frm my own experience....but waste ur money on that. It wound not live long....

wow! nandus nandus nandos! nyum nyum! hahaha hey is that your african aro?
well IMO fkhton is referring to scleropages leichardti(spotted baramundi)that come from eastern side of Australia. i never seen any LFS in kl selling this guy. most of them keeping scleropages jardini(northen pearl baramundi) a.k.a pearl arowana. and of course they are from northen side of Aussie. but bare in mind as this pearl arowana can also have some kind of spotted thing on their body as they grow up. each of their scales will have red or pink spots at edge of the scales and this will give a spotted pearly looks to them.

Added on March 22, 2012, 3:16 amim currently trained all my gars to eat pellet. i give them hikari jumbo carnistick. 3 of them are doing well but this 1 guy refuse to take it. he prefer to be starving and attack other small tankmates. 2 blue mahseer and 1 green terror are now in hospital after their body 'koyak rabak'! any idea what shud i do with this guy? is there any other ways to train him? icon_question.gif
*
Haha sorry my bad, i thought he meant this aro. Well if it's the pearl aro frm the eastern side....i think you have to place special order for it. Although the price is not expensive...but not many...or maybe in very very rare occasion our LFS might have it. Even African aro is hard to get.

Heheh cute little guy, i manage to catch three of them.

That's good news. My spotted gar is still refusing to feed on pellets....while my alligator gar feeds on anything he sees...lol
Hmmm... an aggressive gar, you can try to separate them with a glass panel. Allowing visual contact only, and remove the panel one per month. Observe if they fight...if no then ok...if yes then repeat. Means he is not hungry enough...haha

that Boulengerochromis microlepis is also yours? man im envy that fish..hahaha heard that guy already sold is that true?

i used to hv 2 afro but 1 of them was served as dinner for my mala wolf.huhu got them since they r still babies. 2" size. well keeping afro ks not that hard. u needto know(i believe u already know) that this guy is a filter feeder kind of fish(same goes to paddlefish.) they fed on plankton or any small creatures found in your tank. as my afro fed on frozen bloodworms as hes still baby. as they grow, u can train them to accept chopped market prawn or fish or pellet. but must vary your feeding with bloodworm as this guy is a filter feeder till death! hahaha nice fish to keep anyway. good luck to you.

Added on March 23, 2012, 2:51 am
how did ur frenz feed afro with tomato?does it will cloud the water?haha nice info would like to try it!

agreed that its hard to get it..do you have any contact for Aussie exporter?

well good idea! i was thinking to put him in a jail tank...hahahaha hes very aggresive..FYI ur adopted oscar was bitten once by this guy but now fully recover. hes now fed on feeder fish, hikari chichlid staple and jumbo carnistick.hehehe

Added on March 23, 2012, 2:55 amnway nice pickup for your 6bar AT. where do u get it? how much?
*
i think my fren has some contact. Nt sure about the details, haha let me ask him how he feed it. Will share it here ltr. Cool, glad to hear that he is doing fine. I got my AT from a local stream, it's wild caught...was fishing at night and pop...he took the bait. haha

When this native caught a fish, and i asked him to release the fish for me instead of becoming his dinner...lol Omg tat's one aggressive gar....i just mix my alligator gar into my 6 footer. Hope he will mix well with the other fishes.

Anyone tried keeping them only in large tanks?

Yea they are not cheap. But do take note that LFS do stock different grades of fei feng too. Get those grade B to A. Look at the contrast of the tail. It should be clear separation of orange and black.

who's going for channa shopping?
Any channa is tame and can comm with my junior oscar?
Other than L3()nz's mentioned barca?
Plan to moved my junior frm 2ft to 4ft.. sandy base?  pebble base? naked base? Give me ideas please. Will put more DW if 2 are to comm.. want to give them territory to terrorize.
*
Barca is the best choice~ hehe rclxms.gif I would prefer sandy base, its easier to clean and the dirt wont get stucked in the substrate. Naked is the easiest to maintain, but it looks empty. ahaha just my two cents...

Any one has any method to pump up a payara fish? It's hard to notice that they ever eat...lol

nope. they will rot eventually. So i upgrade abit by using cable ties to tie a few together like vine then attach to suction cups.
Then have them attach at the back of the wall near surface. So leaves can breath, and i can change them without putting my hand into the water.
Maybe will use a wood or something to pull them up. blush.gif
Bottom am thinking of ketapang leaves layout since i read they love soft water. and the UK guys advised the same thing too  laugh.gif
*
maybe you can replace them with some board leafs Java ferns. If you want some vines effects maybe u can try to tie those mosses onto pvc small pipes. Or u can try bolbitis if you want other effects. haha
