spunkberry: tats just a standard "procedure" to save their(devs) own arse, so they're not responsible if your mistake starts a thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. tongue.gif

Just follow the instructions and u should be fine.

For G2, i think there's a "One-Click" root rite?

the walkthroughs I've been looking at aren't written by HTC developers though .. but they involve stuff like downloading certain files and whatnot ..

well, I read that first sentence as you misunderstanding that I thought the stuff I was reading was written by HTC developers. Of course not! anyway, I think I'm gonna wait until there are a lot less "you're gonna brick your phone" warnings, HTC dev or not

There is (latest version of VISIONary, which also perma-roots as well as temp-roots), but some people had been having problems with it when I was reading up on the root process two weeks ago. XDA Developers' G2 wiki recommends the use of the manual method.

@spunkberry: Don't worry about the brick warnings. Just follow the instructions carefully and you'll be fine.

I'd suggest only rooting and flashing custom ROMs if you're dissatisfied with your current stock ROM.

I've seen a few people who had "itchy" hands but did not learn how to un-root and backup the original ROM before flashing. Then when they find out that they don't like custom ROMs, they have a hell of a time switching back.

So anybody who's thinking of flashing a custom ROM, please do your research first.

It's a little overrated. I use Launcher Pro on my Hero instead of HTC Sense's default home application. The Sense applications aren't very optimized for performance.

That sucks bigtime. I'm sad I spent the extra RM 200 for a G2 when I did, because the price will sure drop now.

Edit: Fixed.
