Just follow the instructions and u should be fine.
For G2, i think there's a "One-Click" root rite?

spunkberry: tats just a standard "procedure" to save their(devs) own arse, so they're not responsible if your mistake starts a thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.

the walkthroughs I've been looking at aren't written by HTC developers though .. but they involve stuff like downloading certain files and whatnot ..

I looked up the procedure to root the phone and there's bricking warnings all over the place at least your phone has the option to flash to htc sense =Djust wait until root becomes stable and more idiot-proof. wont be too long |

Of course not! anyway, I think I'm gonna wait until there are a lot less "you're gonna brick your phone" warnings, HTC dev or notand to make sure u read on the right place. There is (latest version of VISIONary, which also perma-roots as well as temp-roots), but some people had been having problems with it when I was reading up on the root process two weeks ago. XDA Developers' G2 wiki recommends the use of the manual method.Just follow the instructions and u should be fine. For G2, i think there's a "One-Click" root rite? @spunkberry: Don't worry about the brick warnings. Just follow the instructions carefully and you'll be fine. |

I'd suggest only rooting and flashing custom ROMs if you're dissatisfied with your current stock ROM.

QUOTE(philippecr @ Nov 25 2010, 10:47 AM) I've seen a few people who had "itchy" hands but did not learn how to un-root and backup the original ROM before flashing. Then when they find out that they don't like custom ROMs, they have a hell of a time switching back. So anybody who's thinking of flashing a custom ROM, please do your research first. |

For a stock UI, HTC Sense did a really good job compare to others.
