hi bro, you need to avoid sunlight for marimo due to the HEAT may kill marimo, they required very low light demand, however, normal artificial light will do, my tank 24 hours on artificial light to them, also tried put them without light for 3 months, no problem at all (just a bit dirty)

bro i just wanna ask..
do this moss stay on its round shape?
if i wanna to break them into pieces and tied it on a bog wood did the moss will survive?
or flatten it around to make it as a carpet plant?

After some research, it is not advisable to do so.

really cause i've found some overseas forum that said it does not harm the plant when it being cut...
this might link shown the experiment on cutting the ball..http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com/Plant,%20Japanese%20Moss%20Balls.htm

woops, nice bro, you helped me to answer it haha. Btw, if you intentionally break apart the marimo and plan to make 2 balls, this is very hard for marimo to survive, but if you break it and make as carpet in drifting wood, this it is working well. My fren is doing this but i didnt try it because I do not have a good surface for marimo to form carpet.
