shrinking in size indicating your marimo is not healthy, mainly due to temperature issue

hi bro, this is an aquatic plant, as usual, plant no need to feed tongue.gif they need water and light to survive, however marimo required very low demand of light smile.gif

Err... saw from wiki saying Marimo from Japan is endangered so they have preserve measures, how do you get your stock? Got such thing as domestic breeding?

Also curious about the changing water, why need change ah? blink.gif Reason being if they are wild aquatic plants, sea and lake can't be changing water by themselves? hmm.gif

Please don't get me wrong, I'm very interested in it as well, just wanted to understand more. smile.gif

hi bro, endangered one for certain area in Japan only smile.gif with valid procedure, we still manage to get them smile.gif I dont think we can make domestic breeding over here.

Regarding changing water, it s a good question, if they are wild aquatic plants, of course they can live in healthy condition due to the Natural condition in which fresh water constantly supply to them (lake/sea water are not dead water) , same thing happen for your aquarium, why do you need to change water tongue.gif If you purely breed marimo in bottle, definitely you have to change the "dead" water from time to time so that sufficient nutritional water help the marimo growth. Hope I can clear your doubts bro

Thanks for your explanation, I do see your point. smile.gif

I am interested but at the moment I don't have any tanks at home, so I'm recommending this to my friends who keep fishies. ^^

Hi, How long do we need to change the water, assuming that is the nano marimo ?

Also does just tap water is sufficient? Since i would like to put in office

hi bro, usually 2-4weeks if inside a bottle without any water flow. Yes tap water will do smile.gif this is not fish so no need anti-chlorine etc water treatments which are tedious biggrin.gif Just like usual plant, siram air dari pipe will do biggrin.gif
