Hey guys, I just came across this thread and hope I could really get some advice as I'm planning to get one.
I'm looking for M11x as it's small and portable yet powerful(IMO) than my previous laptop I assumed.
There are few questions which I love to ask around and hope to get some input from the owner around.
I'm currently using a Studio XPS 16 with 4GB ram running at Intel Duo Core T9600 @ 2.80GHz and ATI Mobility Radeon 4670.
Oh I guess you guys can call it an upgrade as well.
This 16" laptop I have to say is too bulky to bring around as I used to travel quite frequent.
Furthermore with my growing enthusiasm for photography, I spent literally almost 4 hours or more on Lightroom 3 or sometimes Adobe CS5.
Not to left out, I'm a gamer myself as well.
I have the idea of bringing the laptop around with my camera/etc as I travel but with this 16", this create an obstacle.
Say, if I'm looking for a M11x with i7-640UM Processor(1.20Ghz, 4 Threads, turbo boost up to 2.26GHz, 4M cache) and a maybe 6 or 8GB of ram,
how good would it compared to my current laptop?
Reason for bigger ram mainly because I used to have those 'lagging' moment when I'm using photoshop on my current laptop.
I'm a heavy multitasker myself too. I hate it pretty much when everything slow down because it reached the peak limit hence
I tend to suffer from computer 'spiking'.
With my current GC while playing with some PC's game, say Prototype, suffered from lagging as well.
Can't even take on medium setting and lag pretty much when it's crowded or there's plenty of smoke coming out.
What say you guys?

UltraSharp™ Full High Definition (1080p) RGBLED Display with TrueLife™
compared with the
WideHD 720p WLED (1366x768) Display Integrated ?
Or is it different level to compare with?
its obvious that your previous processor have higher clockspeed compared to what M11x can provide, which is i7-640UM as the highest. but since all your preferred software able to fully utilized HyperThreading, i can say that will compensate the clockspeed matter and further supported by your massive RAM. i won't say CS5-ing with i7-640UM will be smooth, but i don't expect its would be lagging either. you can ask few M11x forumer that use their M11x for job like yours.
regarding GPU, GT335M that equipped on M11x is better than yours. plus the resolution of M11x is lesser than your current SXPS, it indirectly will somehow lessen the stress on the GPU itself.
since portability is your problem, i do think changing from SXPS16 to M11x is not a bad move
