hahaha.. Means the rumored n9 is actually a e7
*
I never believed he rumour.Reason?
N9 belongs to tablet family. This much has been revealed by Nokia. So it will be using Maemo/MeeGo.Nokia won't make sudden u-turn & ship the phone with symbian instead.

QUOTE(hengguowei @ Sep 15 2010, 01:50 AM)
how about this?
This is a joke tongue.gif
Suggested N9.5 specs:
Symbian^4/Meego OS with pentaband + WiMAX support
1. Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual-Core QSD8272 1.5ghz processor
2. Broadcom® BCM2763 GPU
3. 1GB RAM, 1GB each for ROM and C: drive, 64GB Mass Memory
4. 12mpx as of N8 or higher (max at 20mpx supported by GPU) with RAW support, Auto-Panorama (as in N86 firmware), Xenon Flash for Photoshooting and LED light for Video Recording and interchangeable lens and Swipe 3D Photography as shown in Sony DSC-TX9 & DSC-WX5
5. 4" 720x1280 16:9 Super AMOLED Capacitive Screen with Gorilla Glass supporting multitouch
6. Anodize Aluminium Casing as of N8
7. 1800mAH Li-po battery / any types of appropriate and highest possible capacity batteries available during production (1800mAH is still insufficient)
8. SIRF start4 GPS chip with AGPS
9. Accelerometer, 3 axis Gyro, Proximity, Compass Sensor
10. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, BT3.0, FM stereo transceiver with RDS
11. Stereo loud speaker
12. Full HD 1080p video recording with stereo audio and image stabilization supporting variable focus during recording
13. USB-OTG (USB3.0 for all transfer speed)
*
Lets come to reality shall we?
For OS it will be MeeGo.
1)Nokia will be sticking to OMAP processors.Remember that dual core A9 don't ship till next year.So best bet it Cortex A8 OMAP 1GHz.
2)For GPU Nokia can use whatever existing technology.
3)1GB RAM?Please,Nokia always been stingy with their RAM offering.I expect 512MB RAM for N9.This should be more than enough to run the entire os & games(N900 did it for half the specs).Mass memory should be 32GB eMMC + 32GB MicroSD.
4)I have the feeling that N9 will only have 8/10MP camera only.
5)Display should be AMOLED 16:9 screen but 720X1280 pixels?I don't know if Nokia will pack this.
6)Aluminum case seems to be Nokia's trend.
7)Battery should be 1320mA - 1500mA only.
8-13)More or less should be like what you said expect no 9.Don't think Nokia will pack those things.

Flat sliders also have some issues. Some sliders becomes loose after some time.

I for one prefer it over the n8..only the cam sux
*
Only way we get to know the camera real performance is by waiting for a proper preview.
Anyway since E7 is a business centric phone, camera is secondary.

QUOTE(ne0cz @ Oct 16 2010, 03:45 PM)
2.5k is kinda expensive
*
I think the price should be somewhere in 1900-2300.The last time Nokia launched high end model which was N900 in Malaysia,it was priced around RM2300.

the display is really clear smile.gif
and I'm happy with 8mp though not really with the fixed focus part tongue.gif
*
AMOLED is indeed AMOLED.You see the clarity even in the youtube videos.
Fixed focus may be deal breaker is previous phones but maybe this 8MP camera will make up for the AF shortcomings?
Lets wait & see the production model 1st.

QUOTE(ericchan @ Oct 19 2010, 09:47 AM)
rm1590

Cannot be.I expect the price to be close to RM2K.

People were skeptical about this with N8 also.Turns out with proper setting N8's battery last pretty long too.

yeah thats wat keeping me back too. but i'll probably wait for the n9. seems promising. biggrin.gif but it seems that nokia is launching alot of new phones. take down the competition by quantity n not quality? doh.gif
*
Not exactly.
In term of build quality of phone, they are are good.
Hardware quality, well implemented but it's not state of art. It's rumored that N9 will have great hardware.
Software quality,in Symbian^3 Nokia have improved a lot but there are still some bug & feature like browser issue.
Overall I have to say Nokia's product quality is just fine if you take into consideration of their new product pricing.

and the supposedly rumored N9 would be a step up frm E7 then?haizzz..baru keluar E7 and N9 comes out a few months later..choices..choices..
*
E7 using Symbian
N9 should be using MeeGo.

MeeGo OS will be powering all Nokia's highest end phone after this. This OS is entirely different from Symbian & should give Nokia some of the ground they lost to Android & iOS.

QUOTE(lhooipg @ Oct 22 2010, 08:31 AM)
I'm new to Meego and when compare with symbian in term of stability & functionality, which one is better? I saw N9 and E7 and they both resemble almost the same in term of the design...
*
Currently MeeGo development is entering beta phase.Beta version will be release on 27/10/2010 for Aava Mobile & N900.
You can judge MeeGo then. But be reminded that the developers will change a lot of UI & add more functions for MeeGo 1.2 which will be the production OS.

Meego 1.2 is out for N900 too right? smile.gif
*
Yes.It's confirmed by N900 for MeeGo maintainer that v 1.2 for N900 will contain significant enhancement.
But the release date is kinda uncertain now. It's because according to MeeGo team they only want to release major release every 6 months(something like ubuntu) but seems like some people from Nokia are pressuring them to deliver v1.2 by February.

sure they will develop as good as possible to against othe OS...

So far the OS development is good & the alpha MeeGo is pretty usable.
I'm not working for Nokia but I can say that the new OS will be good.

Good is sure...but how good? Will it be comparable to Android?
BTW, no emulator on Symbian to run android apps? hehehehe
*
I can't really comment on MeeGo vs Android OS wise because the consumer version of MeeGo 1.2 will only be released February/April next year.

However if you're interested in knowing how MeeGo team is trying to differentiate themselves from Android technical wise, you can read this - http://wiki.meego.com/Community_Office/Mar...eeGo_vs_Android

No idea on the Android emulator for Symbian. For N900 users we simply install Android to use it's applications.

Watashi wa Grimmujo Jagerjaku! xD
No problem...coz we also discussing about phones.. I wonder will E7 get MeeGo oso? Why N900 get it ==
*
Because of the hardware requirement & the way OS is build.
N900 might be outdated but it still got the better hardware than E7.
I cannot really explain the OS part but I can say this,N900 OS can be "flashed" with different OS because the special flashing too available for the Nokia Internet Tablets. This allows you to format the whole device like computer & not just hard reset like Symbian or any other smartphones in market.Plus there are plenty of other requirement such as swap memory, the need of external microsd card etc2.

It is just an improved version of Symbian^1...it's true....but how much improvement remains to be seen with my own eyes...which...will never come
*
The overall stability & touchscreen experience of symbian has been enhanced on this phone. But few things such as browser still remains as thorn in this OS.But according to Nokia, there will be new browser for symbian^3.
It's a good thing they keep on bringing improvement for the OS.

maybe they might... one fine day the CEO makes a deal with google, release one with "vanilla" android...maybe a budget model to beat up the lower end market of Androids

Forget about it.
MeeGo is Nokia's answer for iOS & Android.
They want a "in house" OS so they can have control over the OS.
