QUOTE(ne0cz @ Dec 16 2010, 11:44 AM) No.N9 will be a real consumer oriented smartphone. When N900 was announced Nokia also said that N900/Maemo 5 is step 4 out of 5 to transition Maemo to the mass market. The product which will succeed N900 will be a complete product. Before MeeGo was announced there was initial changes for Maemo 6 announced. Some of the changes are native potrait/landcape mode, graphics acceleration, better phone functions etc2. The initial plan was pretty much as good as any other mobile os in market. But some of them scrapped when MeeGo announced. QUOTE(ne0cz @ Dec 17 2010, 09:50 PM) This isn't necessarily true. This phone will work just fine for normal day to day without any modding. People need to change mindset about N900.Just because majority of N900 owners are computer nerds that doesn't mean you have to be good at programming to use N900. Maemo's UI is pretty simple actually & the OS itself has matured with very less bugs. QUOTE(Jason3399 @ Dec 22 2010, 09:08 PM) No.Even with Android 2.3 the answer still no. |

let's get back into topic, if u wanna discuss n900 pls go away.
below is e7 preview from glen cha. QUOTE the display of 4 inch, with Corning Gorilla Glass, and Nokia’s proprietary ClearBlack AMOLED display, makes for a gorgeous screen. Colours are vibrant, the screen is bright and sharp. As the keyboard is opened, the screen is angled just nice so that the user can type comfortably while looking at the screen comfortably. Just like the N97/N97 Mini, the user cannot adjust the angle at which the screen opens – it only opens to one angle. Linkas you hold the phone in portrait orientation the right side up, there’s only a single physical “menu” button beneath the beautiful 4 inch screen. On the left, there’s the “lock” key. On the right, there’s the pull-out SIM card slot, volume slider switch (up to increase volume, and vice versa) and dedicated camera key. On the back, there’s the 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash. On the top, there’s the 3.5mm headset jack, power button, the HDMI port as well as the microUSB port. On the bottom there’s the microphone port and what I believe to be a lanyard hole. the camera is a full focus one. This is basically a fixed focus camera with no moving mechanical parts, unlike an autofocus camera. As such, this largely explains why the camera lens area is flush with the rest of the body, unlike modern smartphones with autofocus cameras whose lens “jut out” or “bulges out” from the body. Some see this as an attraction, personally, I see the bulge as rather unsightly. The minimum focusing distance is 50 cm or 19.69 inches. Any object less than 50 cm from the lens will be blur. Judge the quality of the pictures and HD video taken in a flourescent lit room for yourself below. there are 3 homescreens, same as on the N8. The homescreens rotate when the phone is rotated with the keyboard “closed”, or when the keyboard is “open”. Rotation is only on two “axis”, when the phone is the right way up in portrait orientation, and when you turn the phone to its left in landscape orientation. battery of 1200mAh (model BL-4D, the same that powers the N8) is non-user replaceable, but can be changed in a service centre. It remains to be seen whether this can power the 4″ screen for an entire day for an “average” person’s usage scenario. I will obviously test this with my review unit next year when it is released. I have concerns with any modern smartphone with a screen larger than 3.5 inches that does not come with a 1500mAh battery. an F-Secure app is bundled with the E7 with lifetime license for the “secure my phone” feature. This includes remote locking, remote wipe (triggering a phone factory reset which will erase all personal data and user installed apps remotely), and find-my-phone feature. To use the find-my-phone feature, an SMS from a trusted number is sent to the E7 containing a special message. The E7 will then fire up its GPS thingamajig and attempt to find itself on the map. Once located, the E7 will send an SMS to the trusted number with a link to Google Maps (yes, Google Maps and not Ovi Maps!) showing the location of the E7. Pretty neat stuff, and working, as demonstrated to us. Quickoffice is also bundled with full view/edit functionality. The user can create new Word, Excel as well as Powerpoint documents. VPN support is built-in and pre-installed for Cisco and Juniper SSL VPN. Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile for instant messaging is also bundled. the E7 supports a connection to Microsoft’s Share Point server. free-for-life worldwide Ovi Maps navigation. tactile feel of the keyboard is just nice. The keys are not stiff, and easily pressed and registers key presses well. Keys are spaced out nicely as well, in a chiclet/island layout, and unless you have giant sized fingers, will be comfortable to type on. ![]() ![]() |
