hey guys, I'm just wondering, like computers or any other phones (my SE K810i, past 2 years quite ok suddenly since last month got a lot slower even though memory stick more than 40% free space left) Do Android phones such as... Wildfire perhaps, get slow after some time using it? Sorry for this astronomically stupid question.

yes it does... even top range of androids will get laggy after sometime... coz the system will continually improves, just like our computer... to maximize ur internal or external memory usage also will cause the system to lags... u needs time for the system to run/execute the commands of the things that u want them do...
that is my concept...

In 2 years time, even if its still running as fast as it did on day1, you probably have your eyes on one of the dual core A9.

I'm not sure about Android (as I've just been using it for few months), but my 2007 C2D Windows Vista is still running smooth (if you don't talk about gaming)

It doesn't really feel slower due to its growing age, but there are two possibilities why you think it's slower - and it probably applies to Android as well

- You install too much craps
- Your pc/phone can't cope with the latest apps as time goes because they are designed for more powerful hardware.

It does show sign of slowness only if u use software which are meant for higher spec hardware ...

The basic principle is simple and it adheres to ANY system in the world..As there is more data to be indexed, the system becomes slower..This means, if you install more applications, and add more data, there will be more stuff to be searched by the system and render the memory accordingly..This, slows down the system..

For as long as the computer's capacity can calculate ALL the data in the computer per second, there will be no noticeable lag..This is how supercomputers function..They can perform millions of calculations in miliseconds and hence, maintain speed even with huge amount of data..

Android is no exceptional too..However, Android is fitted with smart memory management..When you are multitasking on Android, it manages the sets priority to the applications in the background and decides whether it will be needed soon or not..That is why, Android phones do NOT need a task manager or task killer..It has a built in one smile.gif So, the lag is not noticeable~ But if you're running a phone below 1GHz processor, you might experience lesser performance..If lag is a huge concern, choose between the top range Android phones..You will not regret wink.gif At least, its cheaper than the iPhone still happy.gif

It's laggy because you have too many apps waiting idle in the background taking up precious RAM.

You can download SystemPanel Lite http://www.appbrain.com/app/nextapp.systempanel
and it will show you what apps are taking up memory(RAM) that are active and inactive.

I would clear or end task for those apps that are inactive and regain back some free RAM and my phone would instantly be responsive again.

Me I would say day by day more apps are developed and used by users all over the world including inputs from end users on the bugs and suggestions....equally adding secret ingredients enabling the Android system to react and adapt to these catalyst giving better output day by day.....provided user continue to use these apps.

Frankly speaking I am using a Tattoo on stock ROM....the longer I use it...it gets better and more stable....due to the fact I am still using the same apps like Task Killer...AndroZip...with the regular updates done.

An example like TubeMate apps from Market some comments made by a user a total of six updates in a single day and was pissed about it.....so what the author is concerned for the apps to run well for the sake of ANDROID ! smile.gif
