Waaaa with Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore all hosting ATP events, it seems Malaysian Open will mostly pack up d after 5 years or less.

I think it would not be a problem for the Singapore Open to pack a full house for semis & final matches there as many expatriates & tennis fans from around are there.

Tennis also much more popular in Thailand than in Malaysia after Paradorn's success.

i'm going for quarter and final...i hope it will be full house tho...if little spectators...i guess it's kinda teruk la....i mean this year malaysian open has very interesting players playing..if they see little spectators..i doubt they will come again next year...well..that's my thoughts la....

I doubt the quarters will be packed.. currently see onli like 10-20% tickets bought .. a huge crowd would be much nicer to watch as it'll give u the atmosphere.. hope the semis will see a big turnout.. very good work by the organizers but sadly not shown by the crowd turnout.. Guys, go get your tickets and forget about free tickets..

Very disappointing to see almost NO FANS to support our local ATP tournament.......typical mentality here, when don't have b**** and say we are losing ground on staging International events to Singapore and neighbouring countries, when have only want to see Semi final or final, please recall the best match in Wimbledon 2010 was the friggin 1st round Isner Vs Mahut, that match was HISTORY in the making.........

C'mon people if this tournament cannot generate any revenue of any kind, for sure tutup kedai......then no chance to see any pro 'live'.....

I dunno how much tickets are, but I don't think they are in the 'thousand' dollar range.

If you can actually watch how hard and precise the pro's hit live, you will notice the way they take/attack the ball, how much in front/early they hit the ball, see their swing path on their kick serves, slice serves, flat serves......

You guys don't know how lucky you are!!!!

Alot of negative comments from other countries on why the stands are so empty, go and see for yourself.....bring your friends/family and scream your heads off!! Then go and request take picture with all the obliging pro's!!!!

Currently hoping quarters

Soderling vs Golubev
Berdych vs Ferrer
Youznhy vs Bagdatis
Davydenko vs stakhovsky

Hope the top seeds dont crash out so early... haha.. tongue.gif

Then semis would be
Soderling vs berdych ( will be a good one)
Youzhny vs Davydenko (battle of the russians)

Wow, mouth water encounter I think is :-
Berdych vs Ferrer (love the watch the grinder Ferrer!)
Youhny vs Baghdatis

Well maybe the organizers should in the last couple of days distribute free tickets to tennis related clubs so that more of the young kids or adults can come over to watch. (At least to salvage face to put some ppl the stadium).
Not fill nvm cos other tournaments during the early rounds oso many empty seats. But from quarters & beyond really will pick-up.

Coz its really not easy to fill the stands in Malaysia during weekdays as many ppl are commited to work. Nowadays cari makan susah man, everything naik. ;.. (

i bet u can, even till the final... the turnout is so bad... wild guess is less than 200 in d stadium.... thought kei vs baggy will attract lotta ppl.... sama jugak... but d match was also crappy....

if not bcox of d VVVVVIP family loves tennis we would not have this tourny here.... dont know good or bad???!!!

Well... they're having it a wrong week of the year.
Students all getting ready for SPM and year-end exams.

And since Raya just over, people are back to work...

So..
It's hard for people to go.
And they're doing teh singles at daytime too.

I remember last year Finals and Semis, there was a load of people going though.

well, bro u can't blame any1 on this... not only Msian Open schedule is problem... but the whole tennis schedule is bad, for eg: OZ Open d 1st major tourny of the yr, French and Wimby only 2 weeks apart, USO in Sep then u have master like clay, hardcourts, indoor all jammed in 2-4 weeks.

but u gotta know, tennis is competing with Football, F1, WWE, NBA... all of them wanna get viewers and sponsors... so if u go head to head with EPL/UEFA CL then u lose..... just look at Astro, No. 1 is futbal, no 2 is F1, tennis on no.3.

so think wide and support sports that u like... GO TENNIS...

:-( damn cham like that .....if young people don't see 'live' players, how to kena inspired.....see TV and see real life big difference, and my apologies to all, I didn't mean to say our local community don't support, its just very depressing to empty seats.

I thought the local tennis lawn association would send down their juniors and young children to see, it would be nice if current state/national players were in the stands as well, its nice to know our local players, if the organisers gave special rates for local tennis clubs via grassroot level, it would fill up some of the stands. They could give senior citizens a special rate as well...its all nice to speculate, oh well I really hope from quarters onwards there is some sort of crowd....

Nah I'm not blaming anyone.
Just thought that the organisers could have it scheduled at a better week that's all.

But yea I know with other more important ATP events like Shanghai... its hard to cram in.

totally agree with bro prae... was watching double and kei vs baggy....

double is so competative, the serves are massive.... quick, power, intensed....

kei vs baggy quite dissapointing, i found the kei shot are too short... mostly landed service line waiting baggy to bang and control... volley is like armateur... sigh...

today off... thu hope will finish morning session.
