I just installed Unifi last week. Just wondering, the TM installer told me that I have to leave the black Huwaei box always on, or else my telephone will not work.

Will the black Huwaei box withstand being ON for 24/7 for months or even years? I need my telephone because my alarm system is connected to it. So switching it off is not an option.

My other concern is, by leaving on all the time, isn't this risky of being strike by lightning? Do you use surge protector for your Unifi equipment?

During the installation of my Unifi, at first my iptv also come out like yours i.e. it had some colour distortions at the top of the screen. Some tv channels also like that, some dont have image at all. Only the tv menu/grid is okay.

To solve this, the Unifi installer had to call the iptv centre several times and they had to do something at the back-end / iptv server to correct the error. I suggest you call Unifi centre or call your installer again and highlight this issue to them. They should be able to fix it.

My first Unifi bill just arrived. Seems that we can't pay using Citibank online yet. The only way to pay via online is by using maybank2u.

When I used maybank2u, selected "Telekom Malaysia Berhad - Unifi", keyed in my Unifi account number and click continue, I was informed by Unifi Call centre that my name should appear under my account number (i.e. Maybank2u will verify my account and display the name of the account holder) before I click Confirm. But for some reason, my name does not appear, just my account number.

Have you paid your Unifi bill using Maybank2u? After you have keyed in your account number, does your name (i.e. the account holder's name) appear underneath the Account number?

Didn't see my name retrieved when I paid, have yet to see this behaviour with any bill registration/payment on M2U, only for MBB banking accounts. Payment went through fine, no issues.

That's good to know. Anyway, I've paid using maybank2u. When I paid, my name did not appear at the screen. I don't know why the Unifi call centre officer told be that my name should appear below my account number. Made me worry unnecessarily.

After experimenting a bit, I think I know how to make your name appear below your account number in maybank2u. You need to make that payee your favourite payee, then maybank2u will ask you to fill in the account holder's name, and it will be displayed beneath the account number every time you make payment to this "favourite" payee.

One of my friend from Kepong complained UniFi slow last week, after checking, he was shock to see his IP became 175x and not 110x anymore blink.gif
I remembered my office Streamyx IP is always 175x, so I suspect he was assigned into non-UniFi network.
His problem only resolve few days after he complained few times.

And guess what, now the problem started in my area, since Monday, I noticed my IP also became 175x, when I use PingTest.net to check, I was shock to see I'm in Brunei!!  blink.gif

The download/upload speed vary between 0.8~3MB on these Brunei's 175x IP.  At first I tried to disconnect & reconnect, power-off wait few min & on again, sometime I get back 110x, but few hours it goes back to 175x !!  mad.gif

The situation became worst yesterday evening, irregardless what I did it always give me 175x
I really tak boleh tahan liao, call them complaint gao-gao, insist to get my technical fault report#, capture screen and email them.

I actually told them if they still put me on non-UniFi network in the next 24 hours, I'll have no choice but to refer this case to MCMC as this amount to breach of service contract.

This morning someone few calls from them, they promised will get technician to resolve soonest possible.  This evening I came back, the problem seem to be resolved, tested few times connect/disconnect and I still get the same 110x IP, hope it won't happen again. sweat.gif

I could be wrong, it seem to me something could be wrong at their back-end, may be they mix-up Streamyx & UniFi users.  So better the IP & SpeedTest, if it's not up to your package, better call and complaint to them and make sure they create and give you the technical report# for tracking & monitoring.

I just checked, and my IP is also 175.xxx...! No wonder I'm only getting around 2.5Mb download speed (I'm a VIP 5 user).

Just want to check, when you are re-connected to the 110x IP, has your download speed go back to normal, or it is still slow?

I've had Unifi for a month now, and my electricity bill has just came in. I noticed there is an increase in my electricity bill from normal. Is this because we have to leave the black huwei box on all the time?

Does anyone noticed any increase in electricity bill after installing Unifi?

I have to turn it on 24-hours because the phone will not work if the the thing is switched off. I need the phone to be on for my house alarm system.
