Just got unifi installed few days ago. My house is in a mess, so many wires.

I am thinking of Aztech homeplug solution. I see a few models. The cheapest is Aztech Homeplug Lan 106E (85mbps). Will this work? Is there going to be difference to the 200mbps model?

My condo is a single phase powerline.

hi, i was thinking to upgrade my office internet broadband to unifi, currently im using streamyx. but need to know if worthit or not.

almost 60 computers can online at the ofice.
normal usage to internet.
unnecessary website has been block. ie porn n youtube
office open monday-saturday

thinking to get biz20.. isit hav quota like if usage reach some amount like 3gigabye and the internet will be lock down?

The 200mbps version is 2x more expensive than the 85mbps .   

Was told to stay away from the gigabit models for now as its firmware is buggy as hell resulting in frequent hangups and lost connections

Grrr ... blast of lightning and suddenly no internet ... hmm ... fiber shouldn't be affected right? Went downstairs, and discovered my mikrotik has no lights! Checked power supply and there is power, so the Mikrotik itself is dead. 
Phone line on my fiber box is also dead. Luckily the ethernet side is ok.  But still need to involve TM.

So guys ... don't forget ... just because you have fiber coming from outside, doesn't mean you are safe. Make sure you have the appropriate surge protectors on your power supply, long ethernet runs, and internal phone wiring if you bridged it. My cal-labs died a few months back, so I bypassed it temporarily ...

Back to my D-Link in bridged mode. Anyone know if telekom tech will make noise if they see my dlink in bridged mode with the orange light flashing? I just need them to deal with the phone line on the fiber box.

And now ... the hunt for another mikrotik starts again ...

Have an interesting story to share. To cut a story short...
TM techs came to my house, they seemed surprised with my custom router setup. Asked me how to do it. I directed them to unifi.athena.my as well as this thread, told them about Microtik and all. 

You know what I really do hope that there are some TM-techinician LYN users to discuss in this thread instead so that we can learn from each other to avoid unnecessary security problems, but I know it is futile since TM technicians only follow TM management's protocols and orders to rectify problems which I personnally find it NOT competent at all.

This is really crazy. My UNIFI VIP5 stays at 300kbps to 800kbps for 3 days and complain to service centre is just in vain. I am really frustrated with this!!! Another money sucking service without quality!

They should ditch IPTV to make the package cheaper/more affordable.

well they have "Data" only package.. which is the biz...

i would prefer they throw away the iptv and give us like 10mbps with 3mbps international at abt 100 bux..

3, i don hav hdtv ,  pc monitor use dvi, but i got 1 dvi hdmi converter <-- is this useful or wat shud i do !  thx

4, if i subscribe now, i only hav to paid rm200 and those montly fees?

5, unifi got throttle bt or p2p ?

6, unifi rm149 5mbps +iptv  & 60gb limit
    streamyx blockbuster  rm140 4mbps & no limit

"switch" from vip5 to biz5 IS without penalty. but it is a one way trip with 2 years tie up.

the problem is, is it worth the $$ vs risk of getting a "unlimited cap"?

to fully utilize 5mbps the dlink router is sure not enough. if you wanna BT.
U need a router capable of handling 100,000 connections without dropping any of it. (and custom traffic shape yourself. if you do well in theory you can play MMORPG while heavy P2P with no lag.)
I opted for a ATOM based pfsense and waiting unifi at my place.

but i was thinking should i go 4mbps instead...

izzit iptv oni can watch through HDTV (which i don hav.. how!?)  ? how if i  wan to watch in both my tv and pc monnitor

i am using pfsense btw...

still waiting for my unifi but the box is ready and testing with my screamyx. so far even with 20000 (site+p2p) connection non of it drop during heavy p2p (testing website with like 100 thumbs each and 20+++ tabs).

as for QOS... not ready to deploy yet. but i plan to control it according to ip and port based. and every "registered" machine should have fair share when every one is rampaging the bandwidth. one of the idea to minimize ping with mmorpg is to reserve 5~10% of your bandwidth for spike handling and set the mmorpg server to high priority.

i just got my unifi installed yesterday! I'm loving it~~ Download speeds are amazing!! Downloaded an 800MB file in less than 25minutes! I used to have a streamyx 1MB plan which was horrible... Speeds didn't even reach 700kbps! It was always around 500-600 only...

I have a question, I'm no techie... haha... Can I switch off my unifi modem and that white tall unit when not in use? Don't wanna waste energy and I'm worried that they might overheat...
