QUOTE(soul2soul @ Oct 23 2010, 08:40 AM) Hi all, homeplug...its better getting the 200Mbps version..in my opinion that is..Just got unifi installed few days ago. My house is in a mess, so many wires. I am thinking of Aztech homeplug solution. I see a few models. The cheapest is Aztech Homeplug Lan 106E (85mbps). Will this work? Is there going to be difference to the 200mbps model? My condo is a single phase powerline. Thanks... thinking of stopping by digital mall later. Either a homeplug or an extended LAN cable... QUOTE(saiya @ Oct 23 2010, 11:05 AM) hi, i was thinking to upgrade my office internet broadband to unifi, currently im using streamyx. but need to know if worthit or not. biz packages has no quota.. almost 60 computers can online at the ofice. normal usage to internet. unnecessary website has been block. ie porn n youtube office open monday-saturday thinking to get biz20.. isit hav quota like if usage reach some amount like 3gigabye and the internet will be lock down? ok guys....please do not add more oil to the fire..we should just let it go.. and anyone using unifi with a linux box? need some help on configuration This post has been edited by brian12988: Oct 23 2010, 11:26 AM |

QUOTE(shahada @ Oct 23 2010, 05:39 PM) Grrr ... blast of lightning and suddenly no internet ... hmm ... fiber shouldn't be affected right? Went downstairs, and discovered my mikrotik has no lights! Checked power supply and there is power, so the Mikrotik itself is dead. ahaaha....looks like there really is a need for surge protectors..Phone line on my fiber box is also dead. Luckily the ethernet side is ok. But still need to involve TM. So guys ... don't forget ... just because you have fiber coming from outside, doesn't mean you are safe. Make sure you have the appropriate surge protectors on your power supply, long ethernet runs, and internal phone wiring if you bridged it. My cal-labs died a few months back, so I bypassed it temporarily ... Back to my D-Link in bridged mode. Anyone know if telekom tech will make noise if they see my dlink in bridged mode with the orange light flashing? I just need them to deal with the phone line on the fiber box. And now ... the hunt for another mikrotik starts again ... You can try my script here (well as long as my D-link holds up): http://home.abubakar.net/gitpub/?p=unifi_pppoe;a=summary is ur script suited to a 3 nic server?? i am not a real linux pro..sekadar cukup makan only.. QUOTE(cannavaro @ Oct 23 2010, 05:58 PM) Have an interesting story to share. To cut a story short... well....its good that they know..at least i hope they will use this information properly.TM techs came to my house, they seemed surprised with my custom router setup. Asked me how to do it. I directed them to unifi.athena.my as well as this thread, told them about Microtik and all. QUOTE(UFO @ Oct 23 2010, 06:18 PM) You know what I really do hope that there are some TM-techinician LYN users to discuss in this thread instead so that we can learn from each other to avoid unnecessary security problems, but I know it is futile since TM technicians only follow TM management's protocols and orders to rectify problems which I personnally find it NOT competent at all. there are those that will bypass TM protocols..as always..just finding them is difficult.QUOTE(Mini Nici @ Oct 23 2010, 06:43 PM) This is really crazy. My UNIFI VIP5 stays at 300kbps to 800kbps for 3 days and complain to service centre is just in vain. I am really frustrated with this!!! Another money sucking service without quality! kilobits or kilobytes?? |

QUOTE(avex|mode @ Nov 3 2010, 10:57 AM) QUOTE(JinXXX @ Nov 3 2010, 11:11 AM) well they have "Data" only package.. which is the biz... actually whether or not they ditch the IPTV would make no difference in the price...especially since IPTV is going to be one of their side income source...i would prefer they throw away the iptv and give us like 10mbps with 3mbps international at abt 100 bux.. plus the government has been pushing for a more wider range of services over broadband.. |

QUOTE(terrance511 @ Nov 3 2010, 11:14 PM) hey guys some newbie questions here, 1) no IPTV data is not counted....and once u reach the limit, the speed drops, but by how much we dont know..1, if i use vip5, after 60gb limit, wat happen ? tat iptv data calculate into that 60gb ? 2, wikipedie there show iptv channel include syfy channel and some others, but unifi website didn't ? which correct, 3, i don hav hdtv , pc monitor use dvi, but i got 1 dvi hdmi converter <-- is this useful or wat shud i do ! thx 4, if i subscribe now, i only hav to paid rm200 and those montly fees? 5, unifi got throttle bt or p2p ? 6, unifi rm149 5mbps +iptv & 60gb limit streamyx blockbuster rm140 4mbps & no limit is this the only major differences ? thx ALL handsome & pretty ! 2) does not matter...all packages now must buy channels instead.. 4) depends on ur package, but i am not sure what other fees they have inside. 5) tak tau..some say got, some say dun have.. 6) lower latency, possible upgrades to better speeds, higher upload rate on fiber..but compare packages, then yes..those are some of the differences.. QUOTE(cloudtee @ Nov 4 2010, 10:52 AM) "switch" from vip5 to biz5 IS without penalty. but it is a one way trip with 2 years tie up. mind revealing ur QoS settings?? i opted for an ATOM based clearOS...the problem is, is it worth the $$ vs risk of getting a "unlimited cap"? to fully utilize 5mbps the dlink router is sure not enough. if you wanna BT. U need a router capable of handling 100,000 connections without dropping any of it. (and custom traffic shape yourself. if you do well in theory you can play MMORPG while heavy P2P with no lag.) I opted for a ATOM based pfsense and waiting unifi at my place. but i was thinking should i go 4mbps instead... |

QUOTE(cloudtee @ Nov 5 2010, 07:22 PM) i am using pfsense btw... hahaha..my clearOS box is also up and running with bandwidth throttling based on IP..2 main users are allocated a huge portion of the bandwidth..while the remaining ones are given the remaining share...so far so good..but every once in a while, some modules tend to lock up and get screwed up... still waiting for my unifi but the box is ready and testing with my screamyx. so far even with 20000 (site+p2p) connection non of it drop during heavy p2p (testing website with like 100 thumbs each and 20+++ tabs). as for QOS... not ready to deploy yet. but i plan to control it according to ip and port based. and every "registered" machine should have fair share when every one is rampaging the bandwidth. one of the idea to minimize ping with mmorpg is to reserve 5~10% of your bandwidth for spike handling and set the mmorpg server to high priority. |

QUOTE(sher88 @ Nov 6 2010, 01:01 PM) i just got my unifi installed yesterday! I'm loving it~~ Download speeds are amazing!! Downloaded an 800MB file in less than 25minutes! I used to have a streamyx 1MB plan which was horrible... Speeds didn't even reach 700kbps! It was always around 500-600 only... u might not wanna do that...I have a question, I'm no techie... haha... Can I switch off my unifi modem and that white tall unit when not in use? Don't wanna waste energy and I'm worried that they might overheat... |
