just u will get some annoying advertisement upgrade to paid version... sweat.gif

I do not like Avast! due to its high rate of false positive to me.

I forget about using bitdefender because it is very very laggy when installed in my netbook.

When i bought the netbook from the other forumer, it is installed with MSE.

actually its not MSE fault....i used MSE before n nothing prob hv.. nod.gif

just reminding, dun aspect too much AV to secure ur pc every time....

the owner also must take responsibility...
*
I know about that. I just don't want to leave my netbook undefended at all.

So far, a lot of these AV are resources hogging and cloud based AVs are data hogging for it to perform better.

if u want better protection, maybe its time to choose linux as default OS... rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

After my friends' linux bad experience, no thanks.

Furthermore, I am using a convertible tablet. If linux cannot support the touchscreen driver, then it defeats my purpose of buying the tablet.

QUOTE(synz @ Dec 29 2010, 11:43 PM)
just switched to eset av 4, kinda high memory usage.. constantly at 50+ mb

avira only uses around 20-30 mb (w/o webguard n mail guard) sometimes even less than 10mb when idle. but too much FPs
*
I thought ESET are very light? Have you used KIS?

QUOTE(donchaka @ Dec 29 2010, 11:49 PM)
been using KIS since 2 years ago, so far so good

avira: always block my game when try to running it
kaspersky: to sensitive, sometime detection file that is not virus

its from my experiance

i thought Avira have a higher false positive detection than KIS?

P/S: play your games in a PC without AV if it is not original.

Thank you for your suggestion.  I may give it a try.  I did see that you recommend NOD32.  Is it a good , paid Antivirus program?  I am quite disappointing with KIS now.  It gives some false positive detection (as I use some bots and craked programs) and it is slowing down my laptop and desktop.

I might be giving a try on Avira Free + Comodo Free firewall, what do you think?
*
Multiple security software might hog resources too. I still have to live on with my KIS for another 200 days +. I am looking forward to test out webroot.

McAfee, F-secure, KIS, and Bit defender are the resource hogging AV as far as I am concern.

The cloud based AVs or IS such as Trend Micro and Panda does not impress me either because the need of the internet to make sure that they function properly and i always use over the quota ald before even using these 2.

My advice is make a recovery CD and try out on the virtual software like the Deep Freeze or any other similar programs. I am getting tired of using the AVs.

My only next biggest concern after using those 2 that will resolve our virus concern is how to protect our personal data.

Thank you for your advise.  I am not sure about Deep Freeze.  I have not heard of it before.  Trying out all the antivirus is definitely tiring and time consuming.  I am tired of KIS and will not continue to use it when my license is expired unless they solve the resource hogging problem.

I am currently testing out the Returnil. Not sure if it is responsible for causing bluescreen or not. After a few weeks of testing, I will be posting right back here.

LOL. What is the latest version and please, my digi and P1 only 384kbps. Downloading update slow is not the main issue why i critic KIS. It is the performance.

Last time surge 10%-20%. Now it become amok, sometimes can go up to 80% or 50% surge. doh.gif

I pay RM380 for my Windows 7 Home Premium Retail version and I pay RM 100 for 3 license for the KIS.

What OS you are using? Windows XP?

I have tried and i am not going to resubscribe to KIS after this 1 expires unless the new version proves that it is worthwhile to do so.
