gps is free...
if enable the a-gps.. it will automatically connect with network... then it will be charged[based on telco]...
not only nokia phones comes with free gps.. in fact.. all phones that has gps also ...
the different is... software / phone itself.. some phones cannot turn off / disabled the a-gps.. thus it will autoconnect with network[connection]
but some phones can disable and turn off the a-gps.. thus.. can navigate free...

but not only that... softwares also play important roles..
some software isnt free.. such as GarminXT , TomTom Navigator , Route66 , Papago , Ndrive , Sygic , Wayfinder Navigator,
so.. you need to buy them / pay license fee .. and i can tell u that it is not so cheap..

now.. there are ovi maps software for some nokia phones... it is free... and navigation+voice guided also free for some nokia phones..
but the other nokia phones need to buy the navigation license

garmin can install[software available from its website].. but license you need to pay... USD99 IIRC .

GPS is free.. but A-GPS is not free... A-GPS will connect to your network connection..

you need to understand the meaning of A-GPS.. it is assisted gps.. it will connect to your network... of course it required charge..[unless you have subscribe internet plan, but still require money right..?]

yeah.. but garmin is not free...

for people that still looking for GPS phone .. better buy the phone that comes with free gps software and navigation.. .. some newer Nokia comes with free navigation and voice guide..
