i think the big idea here is that they want to make it difficult to manipulate the market.
when there's a search system in place it's always too easy to find the "best deal", thus players are forced to follow the "lowest price in the market".
with the current system, players are actually encouraged to scout the market to set the best price while buying/selling, not just type in keywords n click search.

so yes it can be a pain when u urgently need something, but i believe this system will keep the in-game economy healthier in the long run.
