Yes I know. But even after I exit the GPS, it is still consuming battery power when I check on the battery use in settings. I think this is a bug in android software. Anyone can confirm this?

I'm on JH2 now, with OCLF enabled. I've read here and there and it looks like we'd need to disable OCLF first (i.e. move back data from the ext2 virtual partition to the original RFS partition). I've tried to do this, but it's failing because I have too much stuff in the ext2 and not enough free space in the RFS partition.

Oh well, I'll wait for a stable Froyo release and stay with my current f/ware for now.

Isn't there an OCLF removal tool? I think it's mentioned in the OCLF thread over at XDA.
Before applying Voodoo beta1, I removed RyanZa's lagfix. This was before he made it into the OCLF apk so your removal procedures may be different. And yeah, you may want to flash a newer/better firmware before you do so.

I agree, flashing is a real pain. If you're rooted, you could always use Titanium Backup.

Recommendation as in firmware? I haven't tried that many because I just can't find the time to do so. I've used JM2 and now I am on JM5. Both are ok. Would I say that they're better than stock? Not really, no; simply because my complaints are centered around the lag and GPS - both of which, to my knowledge, have not been conclusively resolved by Samsung. I'm sure there are many here will swear by whatever firmware they're using and can provide better supporting evidence. JM7 or JM8 seems to be ok from what I've read. JM5 is all right for my daily use. I am more concerned with fixing the damn lag.
Yes, Titanium Backup can backup and restore all applications, their data and settings.

i'd recommend JM7 or JM8

i think both of them are the most snappy and stable rom so far for Eclair.
Using it with voodoo lagfix, there's no more lag, and GPS locked down within 10 seconds, pretty amazing.

Voodoo lagfix doesn't require you to root =)

Just go here http://project-voodoo.org/download , download the update.zip

put it inside your internalSD, rename it to update.zip

go to recovery mode, flash update.zip

wait for few minutes to startup, voila~ you got super fast SGS now.

OCLF starts to lag when you install alot of apps, and it lags like HELL when you installing an app.

voodoo is just much smoother in every way. Try it.

BUT first remove your OCLF before you apply voodoo

quadrant is around 1.7k only, but it does not represent real life situation.
last time i used OCLF it gaves me 2.2k+, but still lag most of the time

installed psx4droid, when launch, it asked to specify the BIOS file in the settings before i can play any games. Any idea what it is? and how to do it?
