thats non sense....

I could just wait for the official firmware to be out...
Why take the risk?? its not like without 2.2 you would die....
You must be a God damn rich ass to Take such a risk ... either that or you must be a brave retard..

No offence but seriously.. i dont see the point of rooting...
*
To each his own. But knowing that your phone has so much potential under the hood is just to tempting! As long as you've read enough and you understand what you are doing and changing, it's really no big deal. It's only risky when people blindly follow step by step tutorials without an inkling of what they're doing. All said, the SGS is pretty darn unbrickable.

Ha ha, iPhone4 is a phone meh....got antenna problem, drop phone signal and front camera cannot use with 3G (can only use via wifi like notebook)

okay okay...just kidding...iPhone lovers don't shoot me....

Let's not knock the iphone too hard. It's a good phone for first-time smartphone users. But if you've gone through the various flavours (and pain) of Symbian, Windows Mobile (when it was called PocketPC!) and even PalmOS 5, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything remotely revolutionary about the iphone.

erm,is it true?as i researched,ARM Cortex A8 Hummingbird is perform better than snapdragon wo.
*
apparently you didn't research beyond the feature list. SGS has a couple of major problems, namely lagginess due to sub-optimal FS and screwed up GPS implementation. So yeah, until Samsung fixes this officially in Froyo or some other update, even the current Desire offers a better out of the box experience.

i still think got many type ...
ok , now i go computer shop and tell them i wan micro sd card.. tat's all ?
*
I'd recommend Sandisk (or if you really have the money, Panasonic). Forget about Kingston, Apacer, Transcend and those other brands (no offense to people using those brands - I've just had *many* bad experiences with non-sandisk SD cards)

Camera shops tend to hike their prices a fair bit. I think he'd have better luck at a regular computer store.

QUOTE(Edward91 @ Sep 22 2010, 10:42 AM)
Sandisk is the brand name ?
sry im not a pro in this area -.-

Added on September 22, 2010, 10:42 am

thx: )
*
Yep, Sandisk is the brand. www.sandisk.com SDHC cards are rated by class (class 2, 4, 6) which gives you an idea of the performance (write-speed to be precise). Faster write speeds cut down disk I/O which is generally a good thing - but whether you can feel the difference on a mobile device is another matter.

Maxis only sells the 16GB version. You can ask them before you purchase to be extra extra sure, right?

hi guys, im planning to buy the galaxy s...however there are few concerns of mine that i need to ask the galaxy users here.

(1)so far hows the user experience, is it damn worth to buy this phone for its price?

(2) heard lot of pplz claim that samsung product usually dont last long, any feedback on galaxy s so far?

(3) also heard that the battery could easily drain, true?
p/s: apologize for these questions, they're only what I "heard" from others and just want to clarify with the users here smile.gif
*
(1) It's Android! If you can stomach the maxis plan, it's pretty good bang for your buck. But at it's MSRP, it's a little steep for me personally.
(2) Aside from the plasticky feel which can be fixed with a nice case, the thing hasn't fallen apart on me yet. No creaks or squeeks despite having removed the battery cover numerous times.
(3) Depends on how you use it. If you've got live wallpapers enabled, widgets updating every 5 mins, heavy surfing and constant game-playing - sure your battery life is gonna suck. If you use it prudently and only enable essential services that you'd use it can last a pretty long time. Case in point, this morning i had 48 percent battery left; uptime 1 day, 45 minutes.

i disabled "Use 2G networks only" (means its on 3G) and battery consumption went up a lot.. this is with no background process/apps running, and not using the phone except for a voice call lasting less than 10 minutes and less than 20 sms..

open the OCLF app, undo Lagfix.. after that..uninstall the ext2 tools.. after that you can do the voodoo lagfix..
you can keep OCLF app installed and keep your root.

but you MUST undo the OCLF lagfix.

the crap battery life on 3G network, even when it is not used for data (background data & autosync off) is it the same for you guys?
*
Yes, 3G with or without an active data connection still needs more power from the radio just to hook on to a 3G signal. Frankly speaking, all my previous 3G phones had terrible battery life. Just gotta lower your expectations.

Cool! How much is that ? How to know what class my memory card is ? I took from my old nokia phone haha

Usually there's a number printed in a circle on the card itself denoting the class (2, 4 or 6).

okok so mines a class 4 still laggy when access photos.. or is it the lag issue w/ SGS ?
hmm.gif  In speed perhaps?
right, thanks!
I was searching for the memory card on lyn.. and i notice there is a CLASS 10! lol anyone tried it ?
*
The speed class of your SD card does not determine how fast you access photos or data off your card. Speed class defines the sustained WRITE speed, not READ.
FYI: http://www.sdcard.org/developers/tech/speed_class/

If you're facing lags when accessing the Gallery (how slow is slow? 2-3secs) you may want to look into one of the lag fixes on XDA, if you're not already using any. laugh.gif

for example my class 4 sandisk can perform better or on par with other brands class 6

I agree! Sandisk seems to adhere to the class ratings better than the other crappy Taiwanese brands ::cough:: Kingston :: cough:: In fact, I wouldn't touch Kingston even if it was rated Class 6. blink.gif

Where else can I look for an inexpensive case? RM90 for me is expensive.

ebay is a good source. I wanted a case similar to those Case Mate Barely There cases but wasn't prepared to fork up the USD20 or so. I got one off ebay for USD3.00 inclusive of screen protector. Arrived within a week, free shipping somemore.

My friend said that SGS can't beat Desire.
I got angry and tell the differences between the two phones.
Then he tell me he bought Desire (but with slcd and not AMOLED)
Then I lol'd hard.
now, where my frozen yogurt? i'll lose if i don't have it. Haha
*
Hey, don't knock the Desire. It's a good phone. Much much better out of the box experience than SGS. GPS is solid. Speed is great. Don't need to try multiple lagfix solutions and chase firmware leaks hoping for better performance. Plus, they got Froyo a few weeks ago. Despite the SGS being a royal pain in the butt, I still like it. But definitely my next Android would not be from Samsung.

But one thing is right, we hate iOS from the bottom of our hearts.

Being a techie, i speak spec-wise. I told my friend differences between sgs and desire (and also user experience, have to tweak etc etc to make it great)
It was his fault. Saying that sgs can't beat desire. Out of the blue!
And that makes me angry.
*
Haha! We are all naturally defensive of our choices. biggrin.gif

Have anyone here tried buying apps from www.appbucket.net? The promo of $9.99/year seems too good to be true.

And how about appbrain? Did anyone buy any apps from there before?
*
Is appbucket legit? Looks like a scam site to me. What are they charging for? Just to access the site or to download all the apps you want? Either way, it doesn't make sense. And it doesn't help that their Forum link is broken. Apparently, they spam the app comments in the Market too. Better stick to more renowned sites like appbrain or androidzoom.
