brick = cannot start

You can reflash always by entering download mode

Root your phone and follow my memory kill config guide, use my memory levels as a base and tweak to your liking. Those values work for me, but may not for you, so use as your discretion.

Works for me, vlingo, so I can't comment on the installation part.
I just downloaded the apk from market and it installed, no issues.

Side note: the samsung apps one installed and worked, but on 2nd open required an activation code. So i uninstalled and got the market version.

H is HSDPA, faster than 3G.
Read a little? It's inside the user manual or from online sources.

How have you been using the phone? You can check battery statistics inside settings.

No GPS problem for me, I think it's mainly for the US people.
Papago - follow their website instructions. You need to copy a folder into ur internal SD card to get it working. The app is just a launcher for the actual program.

there are rumors about new phone cant be boot into recovery mode nor download mode...
the only way u wish to go into recovery mode/download mode is by using adb...
*
For me to enter recovery, I do neither of the 3 methods that was pointed out.

This is what I need to do to enter recover.

Vol up + home + power on, once samsung logo etc comes on, Release power button for 1 second, then press power again.

recovery mode pops up in 3 seconds.

Doing any of the 3 combination pointed out for me doesn't work. Mine is one of the earlier batches that got stock JF4

Yes you need to hold it, 3 seconds holding for me will then go to recovery mode.

Well, I suppose it should, because it seemed like they got past it in the galaxy tab. So no reason for them not to have it optimised for the SGS.

I can't help you with that, I did lagfix via batch file on PC.

What you can do is try removing your battery and put it back in and try going to recovery mode again.

You need to hold all 3 buttons until the Galaxy S screen pops up, then release only the on/off button for 0.5 of a second. Just lift your finger and hold it back again.

Try it a few times. Hopefully it will work for you.

I still see the icon blinking once in a while... I'm thinking if it's some software connecting to the internet to get updates or some auto sycn function... Is there anyway to turn it completely off sweat.gif Later Digi charges me

I don't use apn droid, APN onoff using curve fish is my preferred method.

That means I have to contact Digi again?
*
No, as in, once you put the APN onoff widget, APN is ON.
Press it and it goes OFF.
Then if you want to use, press it and it goes ON again.

If you want to uninstall it, make sure it is ON.

What firmware are you on?
JF4 seems to have problems with APN onoff, APNdroid, APNonoff and etc with name changing APN apps.

Whatever they sent you was to configure the APN (access point name).

The APN onoff , is used to turn on/off the data connection, so your phone won't 'accidentally' send out or receive data.

It is a local service with nothing to do with digi or any other carrier.

Go to samfirmware.com, register for a free account. And you can see the multitude of firmwares available for the SGS.

Your firmware is updated for our region. It doesn't mean it's the latest firmware available.

And also, they release the most stable and tested to work firmware over kies.

But 'latest' often includes beta releases.

I know they sent me APN setting, the thing is, I can't see any on the APN list when I check it and that time, the 3G is already working fine

Here comes the weird thing, how did 3G work without APN on the list?
*
Means you don't have data connection yet.
It just latch on to 3G network so you can make calls on the 3G network.

Enter the APN setting as listed from page 1 into your APN list.

By checking the firmware version, and matching it to those on samfirmware.com

XWJF4/JG4 is south east asian.

wifi is separate from data connection.

Wifi on will cut off the data connection.

Only use 1, either APN droid or apn onoff, don't use both.
lol.
