I'd say RM450 or so plus an extra controller IIRC.
But why would you want to get a PS2 at this time? It's slowly dying(arguably it's already dead). Sure it has some good games, but they're eventually just gonna get harder and harder to find, and it's not very future proof imo. Personally I'd say spend a little more and invest in an Xbox 360 or a Wii, at least they'll keep you covered for the next few or so years. |

But seriously, I know this modern-gen consoles are really expensive, but they are totally worth it.
PS2s are cheap yeah, but you get what you're paying for: an outdated unsupported console that no one really plays anymore. Getting that you'd really be missing out on just everything that's got to do with gaming nowadays. IIRC an Xbox 360 Arcade is like RM800+? If budget's an issue I say go with that, or get a Wii which I think is about the same price last I checked. |

I'm playing more on my PS2 these days than on Wii/PS3/360, reason because I feel like it.

PS2 still has its worth.. its simpler to use.. especially for kids to play.. and easy for beginners..also it have more 2 player games To choose from... its small light n very easy to bring around as well..
if you r not in a hurry with the latest console n want to experience gaming at a good price.. ps2 is a good deal.. most great titles from PS3 comes from PS1 n 2... |

i could swear the menus are pretty similiar for both ps2 and ps3. and i could swear both consoles have about the same ratio of local mutliplayer support

5yrs old can tell the difference which has better looking graphics.. but to understand the menus for both.. PS 2 is easier n less menus and options.. not all kids even know how to install the game on the Hard Disk..
other reasons kids prefer the ps2 better in Malaysia is that they can buy the game them selves with pocket money or choose any they like n parents dont mind buying.. coz in malaysia got "ahem" game... compared to PS3 which is expensive.. |

That is true...my 5 year old son enjoy his Lightning Mcqueen game (looks like a car, with a LED color screen on top, some buttons and you can move the car left/right to avoid some yellow lines...LOL). He even enjoy playing that RM4 KFC game with small LCD screen in black and white (i squint my eyes so hard trying to make out what it is!).Added on September 10, 2010, 7:54 am most non gamer parents buying for their kids, the main factor is COST. 5 year olds don't care whether they are entertained by a ps2 or ps3, so why should the parents care? so buy the cheapest console, so that more money can be spent on parents instead. PS2 is more than enuff for kids. But frankly IMO. PS1>PS2>PS3. Graphics has got better, but the game really hasn't. The PS1 is still the king of RPGs games. |
