Sorry if this has been asked before but Im a total IT noob.

1) I just download songs from warez. I read that people talking about fixed/share IP. Will that affect anything to do with warez or MF (media) or FS (file)?

2) Why are there so many people complaining about the data cap? When I was in OZ, we only had 20gb yet I only use up to 15gb/month after downloading HD football matches (you know which team hehe) and HD videos.

3) How can Maxis use TM but TM just letting Maxis have the better deal. Wont TM lose out customers because of this?

4) How is the service so far with Maxis? I've been using Streamyx for years. Never had any complains with TM. That's why Im a bit scared to move to Maxis. Unknown territory

Thanks

Yeah, the waiting list now is just too crazy. More than 3 months for areas with ultra high demand!! @@
A cat can get pregnant and give birth to its young in 2 months time....LOL

That being said, those who cancel it and want to apply again when the Q is shorter, this promo package won't be available anymore by then....I guess its a game of trades...good stuff = long Q

Remembers me of going to a Jusco Open day sale....or be in Q for free tickets at The Star tower....

Say what now?
3 months to wait for them to come and install?
Is this real?
My Streamyx contract will expire in August/September.
Ideally I would like to subscribe to Maxis 10mb now (promotion) but only start paying in August.

But I jsut got off the phone with Maxis CS.
He said 2 weeks.
So either I will have to subscribe to Maxis and continue paying for Streamyx until August/September or just subscribe to whatever plan is attractive when my Streamyx is expiring.

So confusing.

laugh.gif on the cat analogy.

1) no problem download from torrent or direct download ( MF / RS)

2)currently unlimited no cap. later got 100GB. still better than TM vip 10 90 GB.

3) It depends. maxis desparate to get customer hence they offer better price. well TM is know to cut throat price but still people subscribe.

4) Im already 2 week using this service. so far so good. speed is great compared to my previous streamyx 4mb which i pay RM 140 compared to RM118 on maxis.
*
Thanks for your kind feedback.

1) That's good to know! I need to download HD football matches once a week from RS/FS.

2) Even with a 100gb cap, I am more than happy. So far, the most I've ever used is 15gb/month.

3) But isn't TM still controlling things? How come Maxis dare to undercut/steal customers from TM at a lower price?

4) Good that you are an old Streamyx user so you will be able to compare. How is the speed so far?
Are you always in the 8-9.5mb region? Is it always stable?

I haven't had a problem with Streamyx for more than 2 years now.
But my only problem is that during the day, 1-4pm, it tend to get slow and sometimes slower than 1mb.

For 2nd question.
People download blue ray movie mah.
one movie already 30gb at least.

Wow. Usually I see those HD movies on Warez, it's <5gb.
Didn't even know that such a huge file existed.

Watch Blueray on Lappy or burn it into DVD and watch it on tv?

I saw someone in another thread posting his speed to local server.
It was all <1mb.
That is considered very slow right?

If it's slow to local servers. then it will be slower to a foreign server right?

What are the main issue with Maxis Home so far?

I see a lot of
1) Bad router.
2) Slow connection to overseas servers.

Besides these 2, are there any other problems?

I live in a double storey house.
Now with my Streamyx, the modem is in the living room upstairs.

Can we put the Maxis modem where ever we want to?
Or does it have to be some where particular?

I walked to a Maxis outlet just now and to my horror, this sweet deal ended on the 28th and not at the end of the month. I don't understand why a promotion ends on a random day. It's usually on the last day of the month.

cry.gif cry.gif

I was planning to register and ask them to come for installation in September when my Streamyx Uni plan ends.

Btw, you guys have the wrong info.
It's;
RM148 for non-Maxis postpaid user (>1 year)
RM128 for Maxis postpaid user (>1 year)

Or it could be that the young guy from my Maxis Centre who is giving me false information.
Because he also didn't tell me over the reduced voice time under the new promotion.

I'm going to go to bed with my heart broken into a few pieces.
RM188...... cry.gif cry.gif

I'm using Streamyx 4mb.
How come my connections to those overseas servers are all >1mb while you are on 10mb but get a similar result as mine?

If even with if I sign up for a Maxis 10mb plan and I still get the same speed to overseas servers as my humble 4mb, I shouldn't upgrade right?
Because most of the websites that I visit are based in overseas.
So the speed within Malaysia is not that important.

Correct me if Im wrong.
