plug it into iTunes. get the carrier update file. DO NOT UPDATE the software version.

again, DO NOT UPDATE the software version.

i know my iPhone was acting up cos it didn't have the Digi carrier update file.

just plug it in, your iTunes should do it automatically. obviously, you need to be online...

yes, iOS4 has a celldata switch off.

its not a hardware problem, just a user problem.

@eyedoc < noob. factory unlock is embedded in the phone AS WELL AS Apple HQ. so your factory unlock phone is always factory unlocked.
obviously you cannot sync 4.1 backup to a 4.0 ...

get it clear, you cannot change an unlocked phone to locked phone, just by sync-ing user data.

the encryption with passcode is for the contacts, calendar n so on. the photos are not encrypted, cos if they were encrypted, how would you copy them out of your iPhone n into you computer?

um... take a brush n clean out your dock connector. My colleague did that... its fine it.
usually its caused by something shorting out your dock connector... and sometimes you can't see it.
