Hello,

I understand the easiest way to fix my problem is to go into DFU mode and restore my iPhone. However, I do not have any backups and don't want to lose my data I tried searching and found a method with iRecovery - which unfortunately doesn't work with my OS - Windows 7 64-bit. Any other methods out there?

if i do a "restore to new phone" - it says it will also automatically update the firmware to the latest. is this correct? anyway to NOT update the firmware?

gonna sell off my phone and need to wipe out everything. any alternative?

This is very wrong man. Dont ever press that button. Not all users can loop it successfully. Most of them will stucked @ apple logo after pressing that. An ideal way is just to restore via iTunes. Provided its an unlocked set.

u r right, man...i pressed the "erase data and setting" in the iphone's setting and it "crashed"   minutes b4 i ready to sell my 3gs yesterday and nw, hv to wait for JB, it is in new bootrom which i cant downgrade...

by d way, i did hv shsh saved vide cydia when the device was in 4.0.1...

before this i was using ios 3.1.3,duno y my hand gets itchy n trying to upgrade to iso 4.0.2..after done,everything works fine,juz the wifi no signal at all..even i stand beside the modem,it keep cant detects the wifi..anyone experience it b4? can letting some help help,appreciate..
 

I know Jailbreak discussion is not allowed, pardon me this question please, I have a 3.1.2 jailbroken 3GS, if I wanna de-jailbreak it and upgrade to OS4.1, how do I do it? Because if I update directly, I'd brick my phone right?
