The CEO is lying thru his teeth or he just doesn't know. The antenna issue is a hardware issue and can't be fixed by software.

See other thread on this forum >> http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1548490/+420 ... signal attenuation still occurs if you touch/short the radio and wifi antenna with your skin (severity depends on the network frequency though... someone even reported it's more serious with Digi)

On iDigi 88 3GS now... waiting for Nov 1 to decide whether to get iPhone 4 with RM300 discount smile.gif

sure eh> steve job said when you IOS 4.01 and above it will solve your antenna problem.. the software calculate the frekuensi for reception wrong... DIA KATA LA.. i dont know..
*
Steve Jobs did not say that la smile.gif ... the software update is only to change the algorithm of the software on how to display the reception bars. Nothing to do with the antenna hardware issue.

It's a hardware design flaw.. cannot be fixed by software.

Me too..
MAXIS CEO on newpapers clarify this wor..
do ur guys think are there possibilty to recycle problematic last batch i4 in Malaysia..?
*
The flaw is hardware so it won't be fixed by any software update. Whatever batch we get will also have the possibility of the antenna problem as there is no news Apple has fixed or improved the hardware design.

Personally, I think there will not be a hardware fix. Therefore the problem will exist throughout the life of iPhone 4 production.

We can:
1. Hold the phone correct way (to quote Steve Jobs) haha
2. Use a case/bumper
3. Wait for iPhone 5

Some have reported problems, some not much problems... maybe because shorting the antenna changes the impedance in an unpredictable way, so some sets more serious than others.

Wish you luck... hope you can get a set with not much problem smile.gif

Issit the bumper will completely solve the antenna issue?
really wanted to know..
*
Yes, because the bumper or case will cover the left side where the Wifi and Radio antenna is separated by only a small gap.

The antennas are metal and on the OUTSIDE of the phone. So if you cover the sides with anything except metal/skin, you'll be okay ... even loytape or masking tape will do biggrin.gif

Er, that's why Apple is giving free bumpers ma. Because it can't be solved with software.

If that phone is kept in pocket, the bar will stll drop without the bumper?
*
All details here regarding discount for current iDigi users:
http://www.digi.com.my/iphone/rewards.html

The bars will only drop if you SHORT the antennas with conducting material (like metal, skin, water). So, if you pocket is empty or you use a case, there will not be any problems.

See the picture of iPhone 4 anywhere on the web, on the left side you can see a small gap separating the wifi and radio antenna.. if you don't use a case, just don't use your hand to touch both antennas at the same time smile.gif
