i shoot mostly in manual mode, and sometimes aperture priority mode.
it really depends oh what u want to shoot and how u want the picture to be.
if u want to take a model/potrait shot with a blur out background (bokeh), then u should fix the aperture, and use the shutter speed and ISO to adjust the brightness.

the shutter speed,ISO, and aperture has its own side effect to the picture.
the shutter speed will effect the motion of the picture.
the aperture will effect the depth of field of the picture.
the ISO will effect the noise level of the picture.
